The Holy Land

The land is soaked in blood and tears
the hate is very old 
Like all the ancient stories
in the Holy Bible told

Each vows to kill the other
asks their God to make it so
Their vengeance masked as prayers
consume the Holy Land of woe

No leaders can convince them
their hate like a disease
There is no cure for this old

           is this what Jesus prophesied:
when sad-sack’s hanged like mistletoes
           the sightless see a suicide;
when thousands fall like dominoes

HOLY WAR FOR A HOLY LAND

One day after Earth Day…thinking about what Earth Day is celebrated for…
I’m also thinking about all the children on opposite sides of a war

Thinking of all the horrors on this Earth with which they must contend
I imagine, one of the things they have in common is they all pray for war to end.

Do prayer calls of the Jihadist singe the comfort breathing in your books of traditions,
could the Koran summon an instinct of journey in the feet of your hopes,

Holy Land Dream

Ancient stone and mortar,
walls crumbling with careless time,
the sun in the sky
somehow looks older here,
and the moon,
seemingly always full,
shines brighter.
I can feel an energy
like sweet incense,
easing my soul.
I close my eyes
and feel his touch,
I feel his oils drip
and slide down 
the side of my face,

two side's have been fighting
for thousands of years
both believe 
god decides the victor
of every battle
over the years both sides 
keep winning (if such a thing can be done)

god wants them both to win
