spreading fear
of pending apocalypse
end times will appear
with the blood moon eclipse
the stillness of night
could not quite hide
the cost of original sin
too much pure delight
bound up within pride
we took it on the chin
as if our birthright
has become too tightly tied
to the color of our skin
the dead did not rise
nor were the quick judged
despite the alibis
reputations were smudged
on the verge of crisis
in the middle of May
new blood moon rises
but doubts get in the way
the selling of shadowy omens
requires better helmsmen
to pull off an errant escapade
were belief shall be betrayed
bound up in false pride
egos begin to collide
the stillness of night
exposes this tale’s plight
a foretelling of doom
or more about who’s whom?
in either case it's too soon
for another rising of the blood moon

Democracy!
A name which has suffered ignominy
A sound which has become ignoble
A song which can only be hummed.
Its hotchpotch has gone through hypothesis
And its effective cause of hostilities.
Democracy!
Turned to a hopscotch
Its teaching now in heresy with people's ideas
Its flaws becoming hobby-horse in hogmanay
Higgledy-piggledy it becomes in the city,
'Cos its heyday is gone.
Democrazy it is in the hands of exponents
Like a shy with its helmsmen.
Democracy!
A noble man with no esteem
Principle with no privileges for all
Exciting story with a sad denouement
A deodorant full of irritation
Beauty, but ephemeral.

Villanelle: The Dilemma of the Non-Violent – 6
Should the State legitimate entity be
To make the use of force It generates valid
True father protects for life his progeny
Change helmsmen and change its personality
The State’s a will o’ the wisp under tight lid
Should the State legitimate entity be
The State is as human as errors can be
Should It excuse seek or new elections bid
True father protects for life his progeny
No citizen conscription thwarts and breathes free
Abjure violence to be made invalid
Should the State legitimate entity be
Since consensus derives from majority
Who made the individual a Candide
True father protects for life his progeny
Overlook crush even one nonentity
What right have men to govern any breed
Should the State legitimate entity be
True father protects for life his progeny
