Books are a marvellous learning tool
so much info that one can gain
for your benefit and own satisfaction
it's amazing what can be stored in the brain
So many different types and kinds
some paperback and hardback to choose
new in this tech age you get ebooks
on kindle its so simply easy to use
There's something special in even a touch
especially hardbacks seem lovely to hold
so very much like a woman of beauty
you don't want to let it go just wish to behold
Many a book are slim and shapely
reminds one of that girl you used to know
having lost your effect on such a beauty
memories of romantic nights sensually aglow
My favs are God centred, bio and history
books that take me on a love affair
hold me in their grasp so very tight
full of pages that pin me in my chair

The book sale happens once a year;
I stock up when I go.
The choices wait in boxes,
Alphabetically, by row.
I search for larger paperbacks
(The ones considered "trade"),
Although they cost as much
As all the hardbacks there displayed.
My son says, "Get a Kindle"
But I love a book in hand,
A feeling that I know that many
Others understand.
Today they had the book sale
And I carted off my treasures,
So now I have the reads I need
For many summer pleasures.

There are books that nobody ever reads,
lines expanded with stories that never get to catch,
eyes stalking cyberspace,
inside there is SOcial media, SOOcial media, SOOOcial media,
like a 3-ring circus they join by watching themselves,
as though egotism could have value in a selfie,
as though Spam could impart knowledge to untaught minds.
From time to time I read some
hardbacks that converted Kindle Fire,
fitting together with the popular, with the digital era,
with those who run and intensify this circus,
and intellectual students married to information,
books sitting on shelves behind me,
the computer screen before me,
eyes darting wildly to see illusions and jokes,
witnessing a tragic magic trick as books disappear .
When was the last time you read a book?

I'm tired of trying to fit in
because i keeping adding
but one and one don't add up
so i take the three and my doubt
enter a letter and make it alright
and when i feel blue i'll make it all black
because i can't go back to where i belong
it's been so long i hope you are still strong
i thought i could hold out this winters long
but the summer seems to be draging on out
it's not the sum of every man i worried about
just the day that we all may have to move out
leather and hardbacks all give me their doubts
and everywhere i look sell me out of my ways
sayin i am a wicked man for understanding
but i don't understand the way of Babylon
and all the proverbs and shurahs call
but they re just caved up words
lost to there own faulty ways
that makes a man to sin
in ways we dont belong
