Should I wait
for flowers to bloom
for grass to grow
for clouds to appear
for snow to snow
for black to turn white
for white to turn black
for me to move forward
for you to move back
Should I wait
for the clock to tick
the timer to wring
for a peasant to rise
to turn to a king
for a home to be built
for a home to be knocked down
for a town grow to a city
and a village grow to a town?
You may think there's a message
a significant plot
But I am just waiting for hot to get hot
for cold to get cold
for young to get younger
and old to get old
I'm just waiting
and waiting
I wait
for waiting
to wait
for flowers to bloom
for grass to grow
for clouds to appear
for snow to snow
for black to turn white
for white to turn black
for me to move forward
for you to move back
Can I just sit here and wait and wait
And If I could wait more
that would be great
Daydreams are not the perogative of the very young.
The older one gets, the more we need to stray...
We set our minds on the immediate task
So careful, we tred, of not losing the way,
Yet often our thoughts come to a cross-road
Where a wooden signpost may have a name
A name that takes our thoughts to another day
Another place, another face
And suddenly our thoughts journey through the unexpected
No more a road of painful duty, of deep reluctance
On the contrary, ...
A coming home to thoughts that fill the heart
Where common sense flies out the window
To be replaced by the reasonless
Excitement of a child returning home from school
Knowing that summer, or a holiday, begins in the morrow
Coming home,
Coming home to a splendid world
If only in a dream
Be and live in your beautiful house, a house where God lives,
Everyday a miracle, where you are at home to be yourself,
A sound that you live with, reverent silence, divine music,
University passages learned and miraculous,
Teaching us to continue to enhance our lives, to read and write philosophically,
I know that as a senior you continue to learn all your life,
Fresh and nutritious foods you prepare yourself,
Universal companionship, relatives that bless you with their loving care and kindness,
Living God's principles, Sundays a favored day with the church of your choice,
House weathered many storms, each year becomes more beautiful, more sacred,
Original ways of decorating and making your home comfortable,
Unity with routines and day and night living,
Sacred all the while contemporary, selective fashions,
Etiquette and good manners a pleasure to be with, living with God.
