Great, legendary Harry Houdini
Ruled the roost during his hey day.
Enthralling the world with magic tricks
And death-defying stunts. He loomed large.
The greatest magician of all time, most say.
Escape-artist he certainly was!
Shackled in chains, or tied up with ropes
Cap-a-pie, and submerged under water, in...
A desperate race against time, he expeditiously
Plans his suspenseful great escape before an
Entertained, captivated audience. He was one of a kind!

PROLOGUE
The Flame, aflicker, licks and flays,
illuming evening’s negligees
With braided curls she swirls and sways,
and flits and floats in light ballets
APOLOGUE
A Flame, to conquer creeping fog,
flew dancing towards a random log
Her flight perplexed a leery frog
beside a silent somber bog
The Flame, a ripple, all alone
alit on leaves where birds had flown
The aching twigs began to moan
A rising breeze began to groan
The Flame arrayed an ancient oak
with torrid tongues and veils of smoke
A beaver bailed, the dam had broke
The leery frog soon ceased to croak
The Flame uncoiled and lashed midair,
consuming crowns with utmost care
A crazed coyote fled her lair,
left in the lurch bewildered bear
The Flame, unfurled, went wild and grew,
enkindled cats and caribou
Remaining... not a residue,
as reeking vapors bade adieu
The Flame revealed her strength unshackled
Flora, fauna crisped and crackled
Fire Witches clucked and cackled
One more forest stripped, then hackled
EPILOGUE
The arsonists were well aware
the Flame would travel everywhere
The weirs are gone, the land is bare,
and soon you’ll find a city there

Her Insanity
Strait jacket with chains in shackles.
Her mind is waked then they drugged her until she hackled.
Emotionally gone she is still standing strong,
leaning on baby blue walls on suicide watch.
Her mind had been spinning through wheels.
The heart has been cremated to dust through her gills.
No more feelings for her needs.
All she has is insanity..

In fog as thick as Sunday morning ever got
There softly stepped a careful waking fool
The pumping blood that hammered in his head
Gave rhythm to the pain that clutched his eyes
He reached a shaking hand to grasp his cup
As whispers of his conscience teased his hackled neck
At times like these the souls of other men
From ill remembered mists arise
And laugh with joy to meet another foolish wreck
In sweat bled fear of where he’s been and why
And as the morning clears from fog to red
He sees why others balk and fear to tread
Upon the paths where other fools have led
And for the umpteenth time begins to swear
To never ever stretch his aching head
Beyond the limits of its solid boney wear
But now there’s one more reason to rejoice
With Happy Birthday greetings from the boys
