Gothic Architecture Poems | Examples

Quasi-Quasimodo

Searching the smoking ruins
of Notre-Dame cathedral,
on the Paris Île de la Cité,
one of the finest examples medieval
of French Gothic architecture,
with flying buttresses, a rib vault,
immense bells,
enormous colourful rose windows
all of which went through hell
during the fearful fire of 2019,
and it was seen
he'd been through the wringer
when looking for Quasimodo
they found a dead ringer

Premium MemberTracery

Bejeweled, in and out of the Gothic architecture,
Conceived by Abbot Suger, through a constant conjecture;
With perfect glasswork etched out of the then-time silica,
Found its place In Saint-Denis Cathedral Basilica...!

Modestly outsized splash-smeared gorgeous goblet casements,
Renaissance classic styled stone accent wall sacred basements;
Prettily pointed piercing cumulative curly curves,
Rib vaults great and small intertwining like the war of nerves...!

Soaring airborne ramparts; metaphysical adornments;
Perpendicular proportions; lopsided floral fronts;
Steady solemn designs that flounce upward in height and grace;
Domed arched ceilings that charms of times, ages, and eras embrace...!

With no shrinks and wrinkles like the perfection of pure youth,
Enticing grand elegance like the fullness of the truth;
Tracery is a treasury of architectural forms,
Within which dwell, fine ethereal elemental norms...!!!

Premium MemberCathedral Church of Gloucester

She is a beauty with her vaulted ceilings and cloisters.
Has been parading about for over a thousand years
Showing off her English gothic architecture.
Cathedral Church of St. Peter and the Holy and Invisible Trinity.

We have seen her in films and movies – The Hollow Crown,
Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Harry Potter.
She houses at Gloucester, Gloucestershire, UK.
She was once a pilgrimage for Christian seekers.

King Henry the Eighth established her current choir in 1539.
Today her choir boasts thirty-eight choristers and twelve adult singers.
So when you walk through, you are a historian, so much has gone on.
She is magnificent with her beautiful stained glass windows.

Her organ was constructed in sixteen hundred and sixty-six.
She has been the site of graduations, coronations, and weddings.
In medieval times she held daily worship sung by monks of the abbey.
Gloucester Cathedral, a gorgeous example of what architects can do.

Premium MemberNd On the Seine

On the grandeur of the sprawling front garden
the Parisian sun rising on the sparkling Seine
casts designed shadow of the bygone centuries,
enshrined in the medieval cathedral, Notre Dame.

She stands witness of many a turning event
of French history and inspired many authors.
A unique icon of French Gothic architecture,
has place of pride in world heritage treasure.

The rows of chandeliers shimmering overhead,
the burst of colors on stained glass rose windows
illuminate the idyllic archway of divine tranquility,
its aura guiding the surrealistic walk to the altar.

The fire that burnt the roof and the oak spire
she will take on her strides like she did before.
Resurrected, she will rise from the ashes anew,
regain her lost splendor and glory once again.

I once marveled at her beauty in the twilight glow
as the golden Seine glided past quietly me and her.
The captivating view lingers on after so many years,
I know she will look the same when I see her again.

Renovation irony
Cathedral Notre-dame de Paris
Burning fifteen hours

Hopes and dreams
Up in smoke? No.
Faith prevails.

Masterpiece of Gothic architecture
Will be rebuilt
Rejuvenation optimism.

The French gave the U.S. our Statue of Liberty
Andrew Tallon has given the French the gift
of his 3-D scan of the Cathedral he took in 2000.

Built in the 12th and 13th centuries
Rebuilt in the 21st century
The heart of contemporary Paris will prevail.

LeStyrge
Demon gargoyle
Will live to see another gothic masterpiece
