Giro Poems | Examples

Sung By Puglia

ono una ruota che gira sempre
senza una destinazione o un rullo

Sono una trottola che gira sempre
che gira finché non mi fermo
Signore, cosa devo fare?
Allora cosa devo fare?
I miei mondi in un vortice
Dammi amore o speranza
Solo una cosa a cui aggrapparmi
Mi fai girare in tondo
Ohh in giro
E in giro vado
Sono legato a te
Per te
Ohh, ooh, ohh
Sono un orologio senza volto
Con speranze senza tempo
Che non si fermano mai
Signore, quando mi sento così
Tu conosci la mia anima in cambio

O Giro Da Vida

O giro da vida

Hoje e sempre;
na vida ou nos negócios
tudo aquilo que acontece
está numa uma roda.

Os maus dias passam,
bons tempos passam,
tudo muda,
é nossa esperança.

A vida ou os negócios
sempre em mudança,
vivo cheia de alegria
enquanto trago o topo para o fundo
e o fundo para o topo.

An Addition To the Canterbury Tales

“An Addition to The Canterbury Tales”

By Nicholas Giro

There was also a CANDYMAN, a fine seller of his trade,
Who went along the countryside selling the candies he made.
He was a portly, jolly, and merry fellow
Who always wore red and blue, avoiding the color yellow.
With his short and spiky hair that was painted with smoke,
Many-a-child he did cause to become broke.
Opening his chest of delicious wonders inside,
He enticed the little children, though they didn’t know he had lied.
Oh, what an act he could put on for the sport
That he could have entertained in the king’s royal court!
He told the children that his goods could save lives,
Giving them invincibility so that they could even smack bee hives.
He carried an old sack that held his chest with the treats that could please
The children’s ignorant palates, giving them cavities.
For that was his goal – to rot each and every tooth,
Without expressing the much needed truth.
But he was an honest man who always held his head high,
Going by the motto, “A half truth is a whole lie.”

Snowflakes

"Snowflakes"
By Nicholas Giro

The snowflakes are falling
All over town;
I'm slipping and falling
Just like a clown.
The blanket that covers the ground
You cannot fold;
Instead of warming the earth,
It keeps it cold.
Each little snowflake
Is one-of-a-kind.
Two exactly the same
You cannot find.
They fall to the earth
So gracefully,
And they pile up in bundles,
Oh, so beautifully!

End of All Despair

"End of All Despair"
By Nicholas Giro

Stuck in the dark, miry clay;
No way out.
Thirsting for hope and salvation each day;
There's a drought.
Dying and longing for peace within;
Peace is nowhere to be found.
Wanting just to be able to grin;
The pain inside is too profound...
Struggling to be free from the bondage of sin;
No power within to overcome.
Exhausted, overwhelmed, and wearing thin;
Is the only way out to just simply succumb?

Saved, loved, and redeemed by One;
All by one prayer.
The struggle has only just begun,
But now marks the end of all despair.

On a Dark, Chilly, Lonely Night

"On a Dark, Chilly, Lonely Night"
By Nicholas Giro

On a dark, chilly, lonely night,
One lay there full of fright.
He hoped that his life would get somewhere,
But there were too many shadows lurking there.
He was scared of the night. He was scared of himself.
The only way of escape was that book on the shelf.
He opened it up to the very first page
And read what was said to be the truth of the age.
He flipped through the pages and read them aloud,
But no longer did he wish for a crowd...
He bitterly wept and bent down his head;
He said a long prayer and was rid of that dread.
On a dark, chilly, lonely night,
One lay there who had seen the Light.

Ellipse

ELLIPSE

Swing me out in a gravitational arc into
the ether way out fast, reach my apogee
start my descent back to earth. Bit rough this time,
turbulence shakes me, back to the dump joke shop joke shop.
Sign on the line, give me my giro. Yeah, I’m part of the jump
in unemployed figures! No future, no job, no mortgage.
Held in place by gravity skull moon eclipse of unemployment.
Eternally.

Land of the Free (Base)

Thailand,
Or Kensington?
Tinfoil from a Kit-Kat,
Tells you that there’s no difference,
Outside,

Cocaine,
Ammonia,
Old Martell miniature,
A Bic lighter; a mound of ash,
Bangkok?

Fly south
Like Garuda,
Drift off to Koh Samui,
A Beach house, Or Council estate?
Who cares?

Wake up,
Burnt down candles,
Landlord on the doorstep
‘Last weeks rent?’ ‘Giro on Thursday…
…Get lost…’
