To me,
Use a drug,
Is to invite to the world,
a Super Bug.
Time to Get the Lead out.
So all can see,
What you are doing to me.
Do as we say,
You can't save the day.
Complacent and waste time?
Well brother,
that's on your dime.
Don't you want to twist and shout?
That's really what's it's all about.
A better future for yours and mine,
If you just pull up to the table and dine.
Fire and brimstone otherwise will be yours,,
Leaking out from all your pours.
We love you it's plain to see,
let my auditors sail the sea.
With winds southerly,
as free as a bird,
his direction is sent by an internal compass.
don't muck if up, and press your luck.
or the whole situation will really suck.
childhood memories
daddy says get the lead out--
pencil tip shatters
G-et the lead out,
I-n snatching men from fire;
N-ever linger nor tarry,
A-s you do your sacred desire.
V-ery good to get the lead out,
I-n persuading the people;
L-etting them know the truth,
L-ike the lesson on soul.
A-im to get the lead out,
N-ever go slow nor delay;
U-ntil you see the sunrise,
E-arly July twenty-ninth day.
V-ictory is in sight, erasing each and every doubt;
A-llow your heart and mind to get the lead out.
INSPIRATIONAL ADDRESS
Winners never quit, quitters never win, they say.
We must always go on because it’s the American way.
We must go on now like famous guys before us
So let’s step out and stop wasting time with all this fuss.
This may seem philosophical, but it’s the kind of dog I am:
Were gonna do it and we don’t give a damn.
Did John Wayne quit in THE SEARCHERS?
Do Antarctic penguins give up cos it’s too cold in their breeches?
Did Columbus give up cos he found the Bronx instead of China?
Did the Chattanooga choochoo diner stop serving ham and eggs in Carolina?
This mansion is our Big Horn and the spooks are Indians in numbers ample
(Oops sorry, forget it, that’s a bad example)
Anyhow, you get what I mean I’m sure -
So let’s get the lead out cos were in deep manure.
( Written for the WHY WE MUST GO ON contest)
A little boy is playing
With his wooden gun;
Already he is saying,
“Where’s a better one?”
“And how long must I settle
For this paper hat?
My hat must be of metal,
Bullets must be flat.”
“When they’re flat they spread out
Wide inside the wound,
It’s hard to get the lead out
Once it has ballooned.”
For though he’s just eleven,
When he’s seventeen
He’ll send some men to Heaven
Like a good Marine.
