Counting Dawns

If eyes open too soon
then a few mornings go missing,
but they are catching up
they will fly in backwards
tumbling out of windswept decades.

Eyes that open too late have to wait,
have to stare at a future blankness
while ears gatecrash the present.

Will the thrown newspaper
land on the lower or upper step?
It matters,
a quantifying arithmetic is essential
to determine next steps.

The percolator has mixed together
a thousand morning.
Dawn gathers enough gravity
to sink easily into an evening sunset.

We find ourselves on the verge
of all previous verges,
swinging one delving leg
to touch a floor
that rises up to meet us.
and its normal - too normal.

Our Soul's Wish

It’s a copious flow,
Like a ceaseless waterfall,
Like the expanse of the sky,
Like an infiltration into the soil on a rainy day.

They can't all come to the fore,
They can't all walk through dawn's door,
Journey on its path,
Bask in its pervading light.

Some are uninvited guests,
They gatecrash into my chamber,
They beat vehemently on my walls,
They are turbulent waves.

They are a part of us,
A mirror of someone no one sees,
A stranger cloaked in our beings,
Our everyday assailants.

Premium MemberA Pickle Party

All the Pickled produce gathered
At Branston Manor - if you please!
They entered via a staircase
Made of Jacob's Crackers and Cheese.

The Gherkin Girls and Chutney twins,
Who's names are Tom and Mango
Compete against the Beetroot Troupe
To make the taste buds Tango!

The Beetroot Troupe are not alone.
They have a wise old friend
Zingy Mr. Vinegar.
Always ready to defend.

The Silverskins call upon
The Shallots acapella choir
To pack a punchy added flavour
In a pitch that can't go higher.

The sour Grapes sulk in the corner.
They apparently should not have come.
Only Pickles were invited.
It was not open to everyone.

The Eggs got pickled with too much drink.
They thought it would be fun
To gatecrash the party
Just to confuse everyone!

It was an event to be remembered.
But alas, though sad to say
The party ended abruptly.
For they were consumed that very day!

Morning Time

Previous dawns flock together,
gather.
The hedgerows accumulate
with old and new. Sprigs and twigs
bend under the weight of
heaping feathers.

If eyes open too soon
then a few mornings go missing,

some are still catching up
they will fly in backwards
tumbling out
of windswept decades.

Eyes that open too late have to wait,
have to stare at a future blankness
while ears gatecrash the present.

Will the thrown newspaper
land on the lower or upper step?
Such collective collections
determine next steps.

The percolator has mixed together
a thousand morning
yet it arrives in normal time
as one brew.

Outside, beds creak in the tree tops.
blankets unroll.

We find ourselves on the verge
of all previous verges,

swing legs to touch a floor
that rises
to show up once more.

Premium MemberLove Is

Love is…
Love's a many multifaceted thing
Enthralling when it's in raptures full swing
No matter what or how long love doth last
Love’s in the heart of our future and past.

Love helps to shape the who that you become
Love changes all kinds of things once begun
Days are much sweeter, nights seem surreal
It's so snazzy how being in love feels.

Love connects true soul mates, leaving no place
For anyone else to gatecrash their space
Fire nor thunder could not tear them apart
They're glued together by the love of hearts.

Cupid the archer looks out from above
For those who're searching to find their true love
His arrow only flows to those he knows
Would accept with grace a string to their bows.

Invitation

Do I need an invitation into your life
Or will you make me a welcome guest
At your one-woman party?

Can I gatecrash your private moments:
Alone. with a bottle of wine, nibbles
And a Barbara Cartland novel?

If you won’t invite me into your life
Will you accept an invitation into mine
If I pluck up the courage to ask?

Big Heart

My massive heart
Expanding my chest
Large enough to accommodate God
Yet enough room for the rest

Love, kindness and compassion
Are co-sharers
Desires, lust and greed
Are unwelcome indeed
Prejudice, hatred and jealousy
Sometimes gatecrash
My security arrangements are frail
I often cry and wail

How to get rid of trash?
That gathers against my wish
How to clean the impurities
 And viruses quarantine
How to make it shine

I’ll be strong and tough
If I win your love
From you I need strength
To clean its width and length
And unwanted to flush
