I'm not a Lady Chatterley's lover.
I'm not her gamekeeper, I just dream of her.
I've been ensnared by her outward charm,
and though I know it will cause great harm,
I intend to read her, cover to cover.

I have had cats who walk,
even now,
in and out of dreams.
Cats know no boundaries.
Like Serengeti lions they assume
that everything is theirs,
even dreams, even the afterlife,
even the dogs cushion-bed.
Some have walked out on me,
some still send me love poems from the beyond.
Many have been insufferable, arrogant,
ankle-biting buggers.
Now here comes one of the bad ones
stalking into my mind, like a gamekeeper
hunting rabbits.
It sees my ears twitching,
the trembling of my rabbit-like nose.
I see it now, though it must be long dead.
It appears before me; coat glossy, eyes flashing,
little horns on its fluffy head!
I do believe in the goodness of angels, some
are made to be cute, even sexy,
some are made to be angelic purring cats,
however, when horns grow out
from their fuzzy feline brows,
it is time to empty the litter tray.

Meet Laura who loves being post girl
one day on her round she meets a lad
Philip was his name the local gamekeeper
he really fancied Laura, not at all bad
But Laura had quite a few options
other guys, she had in her sight
but love can only be for the one
now how would Laura know what's right
Philip was the important guy in the town
Laura's parents rated him sky high
only Laura had soft spot for Tim
who was just plain guy kinda shy
Laura couldn't work out what she felt
there was feeling inside but for who?
Philip had his good points no doubt
but Tim had real humanness to view
There can only be one real winner
when love is in the air
love knows where the arrow strikes
hearts entwined for layer upon layer
So Laura what are you gonna do?
real dependable honest and kind
that's what you need yes it is
This Is Mine you will find!
(Now If you still don't know who Laura picked think on the capital letters in the last line
This Is Mine!)

AUTUMN MOMENTS
Over the stubble ,
carrion crows---
the gamekeeper heads
home for tea ;
apples overhang
the orchard wall;
drapes,about to fall
bright bonfire-coloured
leaves aglow
overnight,
the first heavy frost;
dahlia petals on the lawn,
dew-sodden;
in the October dawn
Michelmas
daises,limp and old,
midst fading leaves,
now spotted gold;
Summer petals
the landscape
in a scarlet shroud;
dank fog envelops
the night;
and hedgehogs snuggle
in dormant pose.
