Mother's Day Flowers

The flower store was sold out that day.
There was no price he could pay.
So he asked a young woman outside the place.
If he could have a single flower from that vase.
But her mother needed the whole bouquet.
That’s the whole point of Mother’s Day!
He called the farmer’s market to see what they had.
He even tried calling the local gas stations, he needed flowers so bad.
But as he’s walking and calling the funeral home.
He suddenly stops and hangs up the phone.
There’s a little blue flower peeking through the sidewalk.
It reminds him of when he was a kid and his mom would talk.
Flowers from the sidewalk cracks were lucky, she would say.
He sends a photo of the flower and embraces the sun’s rays.
He texts her, “Happy Mother’s Day.”

A flower, blue and light.
When I was a kid, it seemed so trite.
I liked to pick dandelions and other wildflowers, so gentle.
But you told me to take only a handful.
And leave the lone flowers be.
Under the shade of a tree.
Maybe more friendly flowers will grow.
Or maybe that flower will get covered in snow.

She texted him, “Love you with all my heart.”
“I’m going to print this photo, it’s a piece of art.”

Fabulous Fabiola

There's a girl that I adore.
She works in a flower store.
I love her with all my heart.
Yes, I know we'll never part.
     Fabulous Fabiola
     She's the woman I need.
     Fabulous Fabiola
     She makes me shout and scream.
How can I describe her?
Which word suits her best?
I just feel that this one word
Is better than the rest.
     Fabulous Fabiola
     I just can't say it enough.
     Fabulous Fabiola
     For me,she's got the right stuff.
GREAT is just O.K.
GROOVY is passe.
SASSY kinda nice.
SWEET is lacking spice
PRETTY IS so so.
GOOD a no no no no no.
     Now I know it's true
     Just one word will do!
     Fabulous Fabiola
     Fantabulous!  Fantabulous!
     Fabulous Fabiola
     She's Fabiolarific

Premium MemberWinter Snow Flower

On a winter day,
             in a sunny spot;
I found a snow flower beautiful and gay,
an unexpected display in a sunny woodland knot.
                        It was so sweet,
a vivid purple delightful treat;
unworried about growing in a cold icy retreat.
      It poked its delicate head through the snow,
             unmindful of winds whispering hello;
                        it really was a lovely show.
The depth of color was quite a display,
             better than any flower store bought;
    leaving snow flower was bittersweet,
              but I knew all winter more would grow.
