in matters spiritual,
the heart, not the mind,
is the teacher without equal.
if we are to hold on to something
that we can clearly understand,
something that is meaningful,
it must be to the inexplainable;
for pure tranquility of the soul
unknown to the doubtful mind,
and for joyful hope only known
to believing hearts, lean on faith;
this, the logical, scientific mind
rejects as mere emotionalism,
but the heart that truly knows
can hardly do so, in fact, cannot;
in matters spiritual,
the heart, not the mind,
is the teacher without equal.
