Ellipsis

we stopped the car on the corner, 
about a minute or two and through the wet window 
we watched the movement of that ordinary afternoon, 
people running to their destinations, 
umbrellas open, cars everywhere 
and at that moment a dismay hits us in full, 
it's just something people feel, we think, 
the feeling that nothing
