A withered hand,his body frail
Where once formidable strength
had been,
He still had a cast iron will,
but there was so much
that stroke had stolen

Everybody called her Mary, her story is legendary in her small home town,
after a night of dancing,a drunk driver ran her down.
As she lay among the shattered glass,
Sweet Mary she breathed her last.
What a heavy price to pay,
She passed away in her favorite evening gown.
People gathered round in tears,
Hearts are still haunted after all these years,
by the memories that are still crystal clear
to all who were on the scene that day

She said "Bring my flowers now, while I'm living"
and man, that really struck a chord with me
Too many people wait, and bring flowers to the grave,
crying over what could have been, and memories
If you Love someone deeply, let them know it,
With every breath and heartbeat, show it
None of us is promised tomorrow,
& you don't want to be swallowed in an abyss of sorrow, fretting over lost opportunities

Jamie cussed the weather,
there was black ice on the road outside,
she told her husband
"If it doesn't get better
We're gonna freeze to death tonight"
The wind was howling louder than she'd
ever heard in her life, as if trying to mock her,
& that frostiness sliced like a knife
Her husband went to bring in some fresh firewood, they sparked it up and soon the warmth was feeling oh,so good
She said "Thank you for going out, and doing that for me"
Her husband said, "You know I've always got your back, I'll do anything you need."

Norma was a little girl lost,
she came from a broken home.
Her mother was prone to madness,
fits of delusion,rage, and sadness.
Though her early life was a portrait of devastation,
Norma rose above it all and she found sweet salvation.

To me this is one of the best descriptions ever
of what love is like:
Like there’s a thirsty man in a desert thinking he may die
but then out of nowhere, what does he find?
An oasis running through a forgotten paradise
& that sweet oasis truly saves his life

It's a sad state of affairs,
People habitually stuck with
noses in their phones
Before they know it, they are old,
and precious years, long lost, have flown

Cory swore off the needle,
did his best for a while
to keep his beasts at bay,
but @ thirty years old he gave in one more time,
and death quickly came to snatch him away
If you play in a viper pit,
can't be surprised when you get bit
Best not to test it, and on that,
that's all I have to say

If you could watch your life rewind
& then play back, what would you find?
Have you been a person through whom
light and Love shined?

Once you set a poem free,
it’s out for all the world to see
So make sure when you’re writing
That you’re giving your everything
This can never be said enough, I think,
Always strive to be all that you can be
