The ball of the century that took Gatting’s wicket
The best leg spinner of the game called cricket
A larrikin son of the Great South Land
He had an arsenal of balls at his command
The sun shone brightly when he appeared
There was only one Warney oh how we cheered
The team towered higher when he was around
With 708 Test wickets was a record so renown
His wrongun and googly were something to see
He’d bowl you around your legs so great was he
So we remember him as the all time great
Now bowling to Bradman a heavenly team mate.

Cricket in the 70s was great
When the future was up to a World Series fate
And Rod Marsh was one of Kerry Packer’s men
To get better paid was their demand
When the Chappells, Doug Walters, Lenny Pascoe and friends
Returned to cricket properly with fulfilled demands
We saw Thommo and Lillee bowling down
With Rod Marsh crouching where the cherry was bound
In the record books there are 343 dismissals
Athletic catches to the bowlers missiles
The greatest number were catches made
With the crowd roaring and farewells to batsmen were bade
The record books show bowled Lillee caught Marsh
As the usual dismissal in an attack quite harsh
But now he is one for the ages in our memories grand
Forever in his baggy green with a beer in hand.

The people came to Alberton
To honour the man whose life was won
For he played the Port Adelaide way
And Russell Ebert won our hearts we say
His family spoke of growing up in the Riverland
A family who built a pride that still stands
On the football field a reputation made
From father to sons across all grades
Peter Woite spoke of the team man grand
Who set standards and knew the demands
And when his playing days were done
His Community work left a legacy number one
And Russell nurtured those he met
Focusing on what they did well yet
To always do good in this world
Was the thing that he upheld
Russell left the ground for the last time
And he was given a standing ovation so fine
And as Timmy Ginever said in the end
Our Number Seven’s gone to Heaven.

I used to hold you in my arms, now Covid says No
I used to kiss you on the lips, this I miss
I used to hold my grandchild she longs my parish arms
I used to shake and high five touchings of hands salutation
Covid doesn't give just takes breaths away
I used to fellowship with my fellow worshipers
Covid tell me now no more gathering
Tells me now how to follow my fellow humans
Government health community says now says must space ourselves
Covid doesn't give just takes breaths away
Standing/walking within 6 feet increments
You wanna be 6 feet apart standing, rather than 6 feet under
If I sneeze you use to say bless you
I guess Covid already kissed us, now you spit out on us
Covid doesn't give just takes breaths away
I used to go to sports games band concerts
I used to attend weddings and funerals
Now it's less important I don't want to dance with Covid
She's a taker away of my breath
Covid doesn't give just takes breaths away
Then after dead what's next we'll touch, embrace the arms of Jesus
You see Covid my breath you can't have it my breath comes from God

Comely I .
Juzt a man of color
If I...
"I imagine me being a man of color
imagine if I was a famous sports figure if I were a politician if I were a religious minister ordained
if I were just a plane citizen
what if I were killed
what if I were assassinated
Can you be would you be torn more would you mourn he remorse I tried I cried I died
but if I were what would I be don't disrespect my legacy By rioting looting and burning is not the way be constructive or destructive
FORGIVENESS
FORGIVE THEM THAT KILL ME
DON'T DISRESPECT MY LEGACY
FORGIVE PRAY FIR THEM
DON'T LOOT,ROB AND STEAL
Forgiveness unity and tolerance

Written words by James Edward Lee Sr 2020
Like a child, always begging;
Did I say you're never in thanksgiving;
Always wanting something;
But never praising the Father;
What's the matter you ungrateful...
Like a thief in the night
Taking things that's not yours;
Why? won't you go to work;
Get, a job stop stealing;
Like a spoil child that has a temper-tamper;
I got to have it, got to have this;
Always wanting something;
But never praising the Father;
What's the matter you ungrateful...
You got A job but you want to make $45.00 an hour
Did you go to college for this...
you get A new car but instead of an affordable one you get a German Sports Car
Got to keep up wit the Jones...
What's the matter you ungrateful...
You got a Faithful Godly wife who puts up with your mess and all your
strife
She's gives you a good life yet...
You blink-in, stiffing and breath-in at other women you lust for
What's the matter you ungrateful...

Speed through the corner, hear the tyres scream!
I'm alright, I'm a man, I'm alright, alright I am!
Car's going too fast - but still, point's got to be made!
I'm alright, car's alright, 'cos it's been driven by me and I'm a man!
Ponce in sports car needs to know
He's been beaten by me 'cos I'm a man! And I'm alright, alright I am!
Couple of pints down, here we go, another one for the road? Well, who's to know?
Stupid woman got in the cars way!!!
She's not alright, she's got to fight! She's dying now......she'll die today!
Police officer asks me why did this happen this way?
'Cos I'm a man, with an ego, I am. Trying to impress my mates, now a subject of hate!
'Cos I'm a fool who broke the rules, 'cos I'm a murderer - that so ain't cool.
It's sort of amazing.
The fact that I have no social network.
Always thought myself social; is it the city?
Even The Red Hot Chilly Peppers had depressed friends while I haven't that.
One moved away, another I told I'd kill when he looked down his nose at me; one disconnected and Christine got married.
So peculiar but it can't solely be
me.
Tethered , to machines, the fact is I'm with robot while the whole world dreams.
Never won a superlative, but I played sports.
I talk to many even though there were parties when I wandered off.
I learned to play and sing, I read about one or another thing, and not just to keep it to myself.
Then why is it I'm sitting here, so tempted against all odds to take the last step?
Finish the job and turn in the phone. erase the emails and become uncle Joe?
To walk solo like Tom Hanks in Big; in a crowd behind a shroud.
The irony of it all is how it ends. In the biggest of cities without any friends. …
Though the snow came down.
As the pond was frozen.
Our skis were waxed.
As our feet were clothin'.
The crowd showed up.
To win the gold.
But the silver shined on.
As the bronze took hold.
A metal of honor.
We wear at our neck.
Ski-board in hand.
So what the heck.
The torch burns bright.
As it travels its distance.
Lighting our skies.

Man you're rushing here and there
rushing rushing every where
Rushing rushing to and fro
yet you don't know where to go
Work or shop sports or dine
hurry hurry all the time
All of a sudden you slow down
while everyone else is rushing around
To take care of you flat of your back
because you've had a heart attack
So wait a minute stop and say
what's the hurry anyway
There's not a death there's not a fire
or nothing else that so desires
To make you rush in such a way
slow down and live another day
