Captain Mardonna has a stance that says heave off
Men in her crew know better than to doublecross her
More have walked the plank than have stayed
She is fierce

Doublecross

The paradox
of self-awareness
near and yet so far

Looking out
to see within
imploding like a star

The door that enters
exits free
its threshold bright then dim

Allowing what
the psyche fears
—to pass both out and in

Syria

You now would think Khadaffi falling
From the stool was first the shaping
For the world to come. Listen
Loudly the silent deaths of forest leaves falling abroad
From Sudan to Syria, pen
The Arab spring wilted in the blind Syrian discord

It is not black and white any more
The tangled thread dropped at our door
Ends go north and south, then west
Neither in religion or puzzled economics
Does the burden bends a mind lest
From the busy covert trend of paltry politics

Counting bodies is collateral
To the objective rational
Appeal, I am non-inclined
To trade past doublecross for a paradigm of justice
A southern season slow resigned
From its own vision must drink of drizzled chaos plus this.

Syria, the ears are sleeping
On the hill, truth's promise breaking
Where fall the riot's dead bell
To the stoking furnace bring broken tongue in callous tears
We forge for heaven such a hell
A limp the cadaver of dreams across the slanted years.

Brother

Brother, do you blame because I am no longer small
And do no jump when you crack the whip
Or because you dare not rise to make a call
To me because of your moral slip?

Brother, do you blame me because I pretend
Not to know the doublecross of tongue
Or because I can cleverly comprehend
The venom curdled on your lung?

I come here, but to make, a little sacrifice
To place upon the alter here
My soul before my God by faith's advice
And weep to none where I see despair.

So offer what you wiil, I pray you error go away
Before the fire comes for terminus
I pray the fire that consumed my lamb today
Will the find the mark that make us better dust.

Doublecross

God saw the Sun and gave it to the light,
He saw the darkness and saved it for the night.
He divided the mind from the heart,
And reason lost love right from the start.

He parted the sane from the insane
And planted doubt there across in the brain.
Joy is pain, hate is love, and small is great,
Its all just there in your limitless pate.

Then he created the firmament, but it’s not permanent,
Loose or win, who can define what is a sin?
All is one for you, and none is too:
What is the cross? And what is a double cross?

Krishna is Christ, and Zeus is Jesus: who knew?
Buddha and Allah too: so what do we do?

So many lives, so many convoluted ties
What is the truth, and what are the lies?
From where you were born, that is how you are torn!
We walk a precarious path based on tradition and faith,
On a plane so vast, in stone, we create our future’s past
We stand in a limitless dark wood, blind to our eventual fate
And the location of that starry internal gate..
And God saw that it was good!
