Deliquesced Poems

Premium MemberWe Hate the Ones We Have Wronged

It is human nature to hate him whom you have injured. ~Tacitus

as children
we looked past the world’s artificial trappings
the ravelment of doctrines
and the glaring capitalistic displays
the only criteria was that we’re friends

growing up
the world we inhabited
shrank as we embraced
the rules of others
to fit in

adulthood
meant that we
overrode innate compassion for others
paramount concern
belonging to the right group
often at the expense of many others

leaving a particular religious group
would lead to shunning
even death
lost in this Troxler effect
we have ultimately lost the ability to discern human value

we’re set in our ways
our value compass
eventually deliquesced as it decomposed
like a corpse

how did we become so jaundiced in our outlook
it is obvious
we hate the ones we have wronged
forgiving ourselves is only path to redemption

Wounded (Angel of Sadness)

Since my birth
I’ve been stressed with qualities to test my worth
As far as I can remember
Been given life from an unknown sender
A few ticks of time so tender
Now I need your arms around me
Incase I don’t survive as a deliquesced juvenile
I’m pasting my progress on an off white towel
No fear, I swear I’m not giving up
It’s just become so hard for a child to smile
Around every corner, obstacles await my appearance
Down my forehead, the rain stings like clear ants
Foster parents label me stubborn, good for nothing
Things as a kid, we never understood
Lain across the carpet, heart beat jumping
Mother, I now need your arms around me
So much learned from these trials
My task to never look back
No questions asked, just carry on for miles
Incase I should perish with the wind
In my finale, you should cherish my end
You probably never knew
That as a heartless individual, I’d feel this way
A bitter model on his feet
Yet he stands on his heals this day
My lovely strangers, I now need your arms around me
