Cold yesterday
weeping to warmish now.
the year is old,
now young,
now a grey cross-eyed cat
perched on a green wall.
The young grow more beautiful
it's hard to catch-up.
Google sucks
the weather's autocorrected
time and time again.
Pond ducks head for the beach
then retreat in dismay
as icebergs return
to inflatable swimming pools.
The groundhog's are in therapy.
Owls sleep at night
while blind mice dance,
beaming in the moonlight.
Its global,
its changing,
it's scary and silly.
Bobble hats bob
among the daffodilly.
At any moment
it could be warmish,
chillingly so.
(SHORT) SONG OF AN OLD GROUCH
Itty bitty pretty kitty
Sing a sentimental ditty
Furry puppy woofy wuffy
Wrapped in toilet tissue fluffy
Daffodilly bright and frilly
Flutter like a girl’s Chantilly
Maids in dresses white with lace
Smiles as void as outer space
Package them in fresh brown paper
Tie with string - and light with taper
Free of all that cuteness sweet
Give me plate of raw red meat

Butter me treacle pie

Rain-dripped roses, dew drop noses
Little hats like wool tea cosies

Package them in fresh brown paper
Tie with string - and light with taper
Then when they‘re incinerated
Grouchiness all dissipated
Free of all that cuteness sweet
Give me plate of raw red meat
