I have fun with the world of geometry
The square, the rectangle and the parallelogram
Oh' the trapezoid and the rhombus
The triangles, the isosceles and the equilateral
All are a great happy family together
The circles and ellipses are closely related
The formulas of geometry try to memorize
The areas and circumferences
The diagonals and angles
Learn the trigonometric functions
You discover a new world
The sines and cosines
The tangents and arc tangents
If all this is not enough to entice you
Hopefully and much soon you probably
will fall in love with world of geometry

This energy is plying and thought is rusting.
Stitches of reason lack a common thread
Seasons are crawling and anxiety keeps trolling.
Maestoso breathe the winds and woods are singing forth
Night is pale, the moon is silver, and black smokes this blackbox.
Hertz are binding, silicones are faulting and waves are fluttering,
Sine after sine, turn after turn
Shifts and twists of no end; bends of no amend.
Pulses of broken cosines and serpents of secants
Wave after wave, traversing the fine of spine.
Indecision rages electric in this sea of blood and wires.
Peels are dry and these coconut eyes are wide;
Hoofs are heavy, and sparks and shouts ride chariots.
These stingings are deathless alas my resolve tasteless
Fangs of this ailment are virgin fresh;
Pangs of this ailment wisp ill meant
But the ale is bitter, spikes of this potion spite
and this, my body burns in an endless jitter.

To be sung to the tune of Both Sides Now by Judy Collins
Rows and rows of subtrahends
Repeating decimals without end
Regression lines to mark a trend
I've looked at numbers that way
But now they only add up wrong
Even though I stayed up all night long
Like missing words in someone's song
Words that seem to say
chorus
I've looked at numbers from both sides now
From left and right and still somehow
It's numbers' illusions I recall
I really don't know numbers at all
Secants, tangents, arc-cosines
It seems like just a game sometimes
What's my number, what's my line?
I've looked at trig that way.
Now all my graphs have gone awry
I've lost the will to find out why
Perhaps they'll make more sense by 'n' by
But who am I to say?
chorus
I've looked at trig from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's trig's illusions I recall
I really don't know trig at all
