Conflagrant

I don’t know how I got here
The first thing I notice is the smell of embers,
As my heavy eyes begin to let light into them
Darkness is all around me,
With fire being the only light source
Why fire?
Fear fills me to the brim,
And I realize I am trapped in orange,
Ash fills my lungs,
But why does it feel somewhat nostalgic?
Have I been here before?
I walk forward but the hard concrete pierces my sole,
The concept of being combusted pierces my soul,
I take another step,
But now a viscous liquid wets my foot,
And the inferno grows yet again,
My neck creaks while I inspect my surroundings,
Despair and hopelessness take over my feelings
Tears create lines down my cheeks as they descend,
And the funny feeling they make is familiar
I realize I shall meet the same fate as those before me,
Surrounded by fire and alone,
Surrounded by people but alone,
Loneliness is the last thing that comes back to me,
When I find there are no windows,
No door,
No openings,
No help,
No escape.

*And when you'd almost bet
		You could hear yourself sweat,
		He walks in.* -Neil Diamond

I approached the cherry cherry
fire bush in my garden.
“Who are you?” I asked,

	“I Am, I Said” answered
the conflagrant shrub
in a guttural gravel croon

“Neil, is that you?” I exclaimed.
“Why are you here?”

	“Holly Holy…I happened to Be
in the neighborhood this Hot August Night
and thought I would reach out.”

“Reach out?” I retorted.” No…wait
let me guess…Touching Me”?

	“Well, yes…touching you…
	You’ve seen our ceiling
in the Sistine Chapel, haven’t you?
The one of Me and you,
Doing the holy Digit?”

“Well…sure”, I responded glibly,
“So good…So Good…
wouldn’t You say?”

	“Well, yes …old Mikey
had a knack, for the oils,
But not so good, for you,
	My Solitary Man,”

Is that because I don’t
Bring you flowers anymore?

“Well, Yes, and you might want to ask
	Cracklin’ Rosie a little more about that;

You’ll find her down yonder deep
in the barbie pit grilling her liver,
.....If you know what I mean.”

Styx River

Conquered by the circumambient incandescent
We are impuissant to all illumination
Its conflagrant presence remains incessant
The Mother's diurnal course without reincarnation
Purity of white, in its bright obsolescent
Beauty transmogrified to incarceration

Destitute to substance of atramentous
Yearning for just an ounce of clandestiness
Reverse fear of aura that is portentous
The cosmos suffocating, attempting solace
Abyss of chaos, our species remains apprentice
Our essence, Yang without Yin, remains starless

Here we are, start a fire
Blazing love with desires
Make a wish, send it away
Luck only helps out today
Rife with a conflagration when I am close to you
I could stay forever more held with eternal glue
Nothing is coercing me to make me crave you more
Just let us stay together as you are most adored

The Fog In My Soul

Cold and damp winter fog
Creeping, seeping, contemptuously
Deepening, ever more heaping,
Invading, pervading my soul.

Like pulling off the freeway,
The "I" now moves at a different speed,
Trapped in a helter skelter tempest.

Slipping past the cool mists of autumn,
Descending further into the depths,
Of the season my soul is despair.

Emotional atmospheric air so full,
Like Santa Claus's gift of toys,
Laden of tortuous mental moisture,
Flooded with the tears
Of my very being this day.
There is no other.

Heart heavy gravity
Weighs, awaiting some opening
To pass for existence.

Thickness of black aura,
Like my head thick in gridlock,
Each breath from this swamp
Swells to quagmire of quicksand,
Smothering, gasping, guttural.
Gutter real, but no eyes
To see beyond the invisible.

Trodden, berated, disheveled,
Full of confusion and frustration.
No answers to conflagrant queries
Until hope open a passage
To sail beyond Dante's levels.
Time in this valley is
Dreary, a depressed desolation.
