In the midst of all this chaos
When frustration’s only grown,
Let us pause to stop and listen
To the lovely saxophone.
Adolphe Sax was its inventor
Back in 1846
And his instrument remains
One of musicians’ favorite picks.
Charlie Parker, Clarence Clemons,
John Coltrane and Kenny G
Are a few whose sax renditions
Have made music history.
So forget this doomed election.
Take a breath and clear your head
With the melancholy musings
Of a saxophone instead.

Instruments of rock & roll
Are showcased at the Met.
It’s closer to some classics
Than I’d ever hoped to get.
From Ringo’s drums and Clemons’ sax
To numerous guitars,
You get to see the favorites used
By legendary stars.
Jimi, Eric, Chuck and Prince,
Elvis, Keith and Bruce,
Lady Gaga, Sheryl Crow
And more, who all let loose
When on the stage, like Jimmy Page,
Van Halen, Patti Smith,
Bob Dylan, Stevie Ray, Neil Young –
Each player matched the myth.
With interviews, performance clips
And more, the music crowd
Will have a blast at this exhibit,
Titled “Play it Loud.”

Anyone considered him a master with the saxophone.
As far as quality was considered, he stood alone.
Clarence and the other members of the E-Street Band,
when they backed up the Boss, they really sounded grand.
I remember seeing Clarence in his only video.
He appeared with Jackson Browne a couple of decades ago.
Clarence, Jackson, and that unnamed blonde sounded fine
when they teamed up to belt out “You’re a Friend of Mine”.
Clarence is another musician who has gone away.
I miss his sweet play of the saxophone today.
