Soundless Tempest

SOUNDLESS TEMPEST

Now lightning flickers o'er distant mountain peaks.
The sky develops shadows over all
The breeze accelerates and chills to speak
A warning of the fast approaching squall

Small droplets speckle ‘cross the window pane.
Timid creatures now are seeking sheltered refuge
Vivid flash announces close impending rain
Prodigious splashes transform to a deluge

The waves of rain traverse our panorama.
Gauze curtains drawn by cosmic stage hand's might
Relentlessly recasting features to those of dark drama
As familiar scenes are shrouded, obscured from sight

Now random electric arcs flare bleak vision scanned.
Against blackened clouds weird images confound
An awesome turmoil and darkness is on the land
All visible anchors cast off into shade spellbound

But the terrible drama plays out the penumbra turns fair
Known reference points can once again be seen
The near rocky peaks firm and clear through the rain-washed air
Residual cloud - fine-spun white wraps for hills now green

For the Love of Kitties

Love brought many kitties; each one special.
Some colors solid, others were brindle.
They come in big sizes and some of them small.
No matter how they look, I like them all.

My first fluffy kitty was beautiful, white.
One eye was blue and the other one green.
He grew to become a beautiful sight.
His silky soft fur in sunlight would sheen.

A once feral kitty came to live at my house.
She’d run, slip, and slide excited, wide eyed.
One day with great pride she brought home a mouse.
Unhappy day; she let it go inside!

There was that winter and the Christmas tree.
Our kitty knocked some ornaments around.
It was really a funny sight to see.
Until she knocked the whole tree to the ground!

Some cats are mousers, but others think twice.
Some live in houses and some with wildlife.
Cats can be naughty or they can be nice.
Either way they are fun, the spice of life.
