Premium MemberCold In Them Thar Hills

This week, snow is expected in the hills
A bitter cold Halloween like I remember
Thinking about it gives me the chills
Mostly the looming winter heating bills
It’s time to caulk up the windowsills
Against a blustery, blizzardly November
This week, snow is expected in the hills
A bitter cold Halloween like I remember.

Premium MemberMy Wedding Anniversary Today

We married, on your birthday!
In San Francisco City Hall.
There was no family present,
Just you and I~ that's all!

We were two very young, and
very much in love elopers.
Nothing stood in our way, we
were over-comers, not life-copers.

Who drove from frozen, blizzardly
Chicago to our foggy city by the bay.
We chose to live our lives in our own
unique artistic way.

There was no wedding reception,
no gifts, no band.
Just a couple divinely in love, and
Panagiota so proud to wear that gold
wedding band!

Death took you from this life,
when you were still very young.
But her love for you, remains a song,
that everyday is sung.

And this forever young bride cannot forget
that day.
The sun, the Cable Cars, the glorious fog,
as her tears now fall into San Francisco Bay!

Rest in peace, my love!
Panagiota

Premium MemberRescue Me From Boughs of Folly - a Parody

Rescue me from boughs of folly
Tra la la la la, such misery
‘Tis the time to make most jolly
Tra la la la, la, it’s blizzardly.
Heavy coats and boots we’re wearin’
Tra la la la la, la … la, la, la!
Department Santas, they’s a-swearin’
Tra la la la la … la, la, la, la!

Why can’t I find all the presents
Tra la la la la, it’s such a drag,
Things on back order for us peasants
Tra la la la, la, a fretful lag.
Shopping’s such a painful process
Tra la la la la, la … la, la, la!
So far I’m having little success
Tra la la la la, la … la, la, la, la!

[Sing to the tune of “Deck the Halls”]

A parody written December 1, 2021.

Impromptu

amused
by my muse
never having
even seen
snow

she saw
in photos
but never
having ever
felt feeling

deprived of
one of life's
wonders her
starving mind
wanders

i tell her facts
about flakes
never having
ever one
the same

then throwing
snow soft
to shape
but hard
to take

shaping men
and women
people in
frozen
memories

but i've
said too much
no sense of touch
all this knowledge
falling in flurries

but my muse has
a bucket list
snow drifts
across her
paper

she starts
waving her arms
wanting more words
for me to extend knowledge
for her lexicon of snow blizzardly blur

with her feet on the ground not able to
fly knowing not now how strange
to explain to her that she
has opened wings
of a snow

angel
