Wedding Anniversary With No You

We married, on your birthday!
In San Francisco City Hall.
There was no family present,
Just you and I~ that's all!

We were two, very young, and
very much in love elopers.
Nothing stood in our way, we
were over-comers, not life-copers.

Who drove from frozen, blizzardly,
Chicago to our foggy city by the bay.
To chose to live our lives in our own
unique and joyfful, artistic way.

There was no wedding reception,
no gifts, no band.
Just a couple divinely in love, and
Panagiota so proud to wear that gold
wedding band!

Death took you from this life, when you
were still very young.
But your wife's love for you, remains a song,
that everyday is sung.

And this forever young bride will never
forget that day.
The sun, the Cable Cars, the glorious fog,
as her tears now fall into San Francisco Bay!

Rest in peace, my love!
Panagiota

Lovely Panagiota, such beautiful words for a most beautiful couple. So sad he left too soon, but you are soulmates and will be reunited one day to continue this passionate love story. Thank you for sharing. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Ann, dear Ann~ Soulmates is a lovely phrase....and God takes people home only because he has a special job for them. It hurts us terribly, but...we go on. And you know how significant I think commenting is.yes we know our poems are good. But a brief "cheers" from another, is a winner. Appreciatively, Panagiota xx

I am touched, Gershon by your comments! We had anything but a mundane, ordinary life. . Am sure he keeps heaven a lively place with gobs of laughter. And one day, hope to see him again as you say. Thank you Panagiota xx

The cherished memory of a lost loved one can be a great comfort. I just saw the Mr. Roger's movie and in one scene, he asks the reporter to both take a moment of silence to remember all the people who had loved them. Very powerful. Have a great day my friend.

David! I saw that documentary last week! I learned a lot from it.yes, got me to the memory of my passed love is signicant. Doubtful I would have been here at the Soup, Furthermore, putting my quill to subjects, most run , hide from and are unwilling to confront. I can only love bunnies and flowers so much. Stars, moon and sex,,enough. How about addressing real life issues. The murder of the unborn? Panagiota xx

Hrllo Darlene! We sure have quite a bit in common Humble weddings and intimate celebrations. There are always Special Days that mean more than others. This was one of them for me and always will be. Panagiota xx My parents were not happy with my not having a big wedding and eloping. We called them after we were Married. They were glad we were both OK and happy!...what a sweet day this is. Thank you Darlene

Oh, Pangiotta, I knew it was San Francisco as soon as you mentioned your "city by the bay." For a successful marriage, we don't need big weddings or gifts. Two people in love will make it a perfect union. A lovely poem. Best wishes, Carolyn

You are right Carolyn. You know how most brides have gowns and all! I was wearing saddle shoes. Wedding dinner? We had eggs and hash browns in a teeny place. I was only 18! I still wear the gold band. What a great day that was! Thank you for visiting.,.,Panagiota xx ps..city by the bay, you know I love Tony Bennett's song about SF. My heart is still there.!

Like life, San Francisco really has its ups and downs. It takes talent to make the best of them and put it all in words! Aloha! Rico

Anna Lise~ I gained more than I lost. Some people contribute to your life like no other. He is gone~ but left an indelible mark on my life and soul. If I had never met him, I would not be writing poetry. We read to each other a lot in San Franciso..both prose and poetry. His body s gone, yes. His spirit...never. Panagiota xx
