Chaucerian Acrostic

Can anyone accuse you of pretence?
Are you inflicting pain for pain’s own sake?
So little can be said in your defence –
Unless you have some argument to make,
Apart from spitting venom like a snake.
Less culpable than you are snakes, I swear:
They do their damage, blithely unaware.

You knew precisely when, and where, and whence –
Or if you’d rather, planned the steps to take,
Fomenting consciously this pestilence –
You find my words too grand? You’ve got brain-ache?
Okay, let’s say you knew which bough to shake.
Unmitigated mayhem, deep despair
Results in calm. Today, there’s nothing there.

Considered as a love, it was immense.
Regarded as a person, you’re a fake.
Unusually, passionate, intense?
Exactly. So much bitterer the break.
Love blinded me. The thing was my mistake.
The fault was yours, of course. But, to be fair,
You’re not a psychopath. You just don’t care.

After Love

Already there it is nearly gone,
no magic, no music flat waves.

I am, because of you and trusted how we, two lovers met.

And other people,
lost along the beaconed way and we cannot see to use it.

You were the miracle all saw, because I am simple, of me.

It was found as well out in the wind,
and I found it out in the sea - come to me,
it is splendid, it is not, as for me.
Tidal pools, see ours the fish swim in circles,
as they wait to get out.

Great is the ceremony, look to the coastal side,
wherein I was brought up.
But however the pool it looks,
in the dark by the moon, it was safe.

Safe from the storm,
life was for me, you looking out from the sea.
Then if it is bitterer than the sea for want of peace,
after love you are the price that I paid.

Premium MemberIce Covered Roads Get the Best of Us

January has pocketed frosted dreams
Firmly tucked away, hidden under her black ice
Her treacherous blizzards torment the foolhardy
Many driving too fast on her hills should know better

In a heavily prayer-scented car
A risk-taking older cigar-smoking woman twirls around on the ice
Finally landing with a splat, slamming into a steel embankment
Her days on earth over now

bitterer than any rejected suiter, the incredible storm picks up
The woman's Ford is covered in mounds of wet heavy snow
This is a desolate road, people do not see the wreck for hours
Nine One One is called, but it is too late.

This smoke has words that escape me actually
The EMT says, as he reaches the scene
I see no smoke, his unaware partner replies
Not seeing the haze that is taking the lady’s soul to heaven

Diabolic Despot

He bears in hand old guiles,
And tons of wiles he wields
Across breath-mired worlds,
Upon sands of mortal fields.

His chilling senses waning fall,
And eyes darkish with tired sins
Beget thoughts bitterer than gall,
Prowling in malice-hoisted stilts.

With creeds devoid of marrow,
He's exchanged sense for myths;
Seeking to mar glittering faiths
Twice before the roosters crow.

His date with Hades' gallows
Draws nigh with every thrust
Of ill-tipped sword into virtue,
Muting Lord-chastened fellows
Unbowed by lead-heavy woes.

School Is Cool

School is Cool?

School is cool he says,
Pardon, what have you just said?
I think you must be feeling ill,
You had better retire to bed.

School is definitely not cool,
It is nastier than the flu,
Your statement is incorrect,
For they massacre you without a clue.

Exams, tests and no games are on their torture list,
It’s just a question of time,
Don’t say I didn’t warn you,
Their punishments are bitterer than lime.

What you see on the brochure,
Are the good things that are small,
But the torture that is at large,
Is under cover at the assembly hall.

So make your decision,
Wise I say,
Of your hates and likings,
And enjoy your of happy days.

L'Amour

No pleasure as sinful, no treasure deadlier,
Le chocolat, as love, the purer the bitterer,
A moment’s delight, neither wrong nor right,
A cheap sparkle, brief but blindingly bright.
