Importunity Talks

"When opportunity doesn't knock, build a door"
When possibilities don't arise, look for more
When all you can do is build a bridge
to connect the mountain peak to the ridge
You find that strange and patient zen
That comes from knowing why and knowing when
When your blueprint for this thing called existence
Meets with disapproval and resistance
Remember the architect designed it as such
All the way down to the final touch
Opportunity and obstacle are kissing cousins
Failure is not up for discussion
Don't allow self-doubt to cause you concern
These challenges are meant to help you discern
What is right and what is true
what to think and what to do
So trust that quiet, retiring voice
That says to you "Make this choice."

Premium Member She Talks Like a Smile

A new gal in town
Fun to be around
Donning white gown
Sweet like a swan
But now she's gone
Yeah, she is now gone

When they heard her talk, she talked like a smile
When they saw her walk, she walked in style
But the walk is gone and the talk is gone
And the smile is gone and the style is gone

She drove a truck
That was tinted brown
She had a trailer
Parked on her lawn
But the truck is gone
And the trailer is gone

When they heard her talk, she talked like a smile
When they saw her walk, she walked in style
But the walk is gone and the talk is gone
And the smile is gone and the style is gone

She was in a choir
The town admired
Rhythm she inspired
Setting voice on fire
She was so pretty
Crafty and guile

When they heard her talk, she talked like a smile
When they saw her walk, she walked in style
But the walk is gone and the talk is gone
And the smile is gone and the style is gone

Children laughed
When she winked a lot
Men did hound
Hearing her sound
But the sound is gone
And the hound is gone

When they heard her talk, she talked like a smile
When they saw her walk, she walked in style
But the walk is gone and the talk is gone
And the smile is gone and the style is gone

Rumor has it
She has been found
She has a truck
That is tinted brown
She has a trailer
Parked on her lawn
Two towns down

When they hear her talk, she talks like a smile
When they see her walk, she walks in style
Her walk is style and her talk is smile
Her walk is style and her talk is smile

Premium Member I Don'T Want No Birds No Rocks To Out Praise My Talks To My Lord My God-

The other day;
A bird lit on my shoulder;
I felt in my spirit, I heard him say;
I acknowledge Him today;
I spoke to God this morning:
And I said Thank-you God;
Thank-you for making me;
Thank-you for eyes to see;
Thank you for all that you be;
Now not my imagination;
And no I'm not crazy;
And my thoughts not hazy;
If I acknowledge My God;
I won't have to worry bout the rocks praising My Lord and King;
I acknowledge Him today;
I spoke to God this morning:
And I said Thank-you God;
Thank-you for making me;
Thank-you for eyes to see;
Thank you for all that you be;
For you see I don't want any rock;
Without a spirit, a soul nor heart;
Too speak
I don't want any birds, no rocks to out praise my talks to my Lord, my God;
Amen and again
Amen

Premium Member Peace Talks

I had an uneasy feeling,
When I saw that meeting.

Two men staring face to face,
signs of emotion there was not a trace.
Each argued his case, weak and strong,
Both were convinced the other was wrong.

The first one said, ‘Please justify your bomb
that killed the innocent, both old and young.’
The second one spoke, ‘Freedom is worth fighting for,
those people were unlucky, casualties of war.’

The two men debated all night and all day,
taking no heed of what the other had to say.
Then I saw the reason why things were so strange,
two men stubborn, opinions that would never change.

Eye eying eye, two men became one.
Speaking with a single voice, mirrored in unison.

Still may need some work doing to it. Another old one I have revitalized for PoetrySoup.

Premium Member When My Mother Talks

Something about having
you inside
me feels like outside is
warmer than
inside even when
maybe it's not but
it could be and that
doesn't matter because
matter is about how
happy we are inside and
outside.

A Night Walk, Nature Then Talks

Forgotten, my life,my dear sweet sorrows
images fading fast as deeper I invade.
Nature sings,cares not for our tomorrows
nor our vanities we so foolishly made!

Forrest path was wide and very well worn
I had walked hundreds of time before.
This night my mind and my heart both torn
my wife had just walked out the door!

My flashlight was not needed much at all
full moon spraying light on the ground.
I reflected back to our love and its fall
how love troubles follow me around!

Yet farther I went,calmer my soul became
mother Nature sensed my agonizing pain
She was assuring that she'd be the same
giving me a renewed spirit like rain!

I saw night creatures scurry all about
watching me with those glowing eyes.
My heart almost happily sang to leap out
beauty came and my mind felt the skies!

Starlight merged,shining moon cried aloud
trees then began to very softly speak
Starlit night-sky without a hiding cloud
warm tears were now wetting my cheeks!

Why O' why did my dear wife wish me to die
had not I bought her this sweet land.
Nature showed me lonely in the night sky
sometimes leaving is taking that stand!

Then an owl called out its lonesome hoot
there was healing in that great call.
Had I not my life and good health to boot
life again could be a dancing ball!

Nature moved me to settle this great hurt
to enjoy so deep the God gifted scenes.
Allow the heart to again dance and spurt
Grab onto hope by any and all means!

Forgotten, my life,my dear sweet sorrows
images fading fast as deeper I invade.
Nature sings,cares not for our tomorrows
nor our vanities we so foolishly made!

Returning now,down this old well worn path
stars and moon spraying ever brighter.
Gone were pains and my dark and evil wrath
heart and soul soothed and much lighter!

When a Cowboy Talks To God

Lord, you know that I’m one small seed
Blown across the fields of this world—
You could lose me in a moment
By the power you have unfurled.

But when I need to talk to you,
I know you’ll hear me and stand mute—
Then bless me with your vast knowledge
In green valley or lonely butte.

Yes, I’ve strayed down many wrong paths,
And it’s all my own fault, of course—
But now I just ask your blessing
When I’m too frail to ride my horse.

And though it seems I ask often,
It is not always just for me—
I can only gain forgiveness
In the eyes of eternity.

Lift me to your silver saddle
And we’ll ride that ivory cloud—
As I dally the light’s wisdom,
And make the big trail boss real proud.

Hearken When the Body Talks

Hearken When the Body Talks

Any minor hint of bodily pain
Never ignore and never disdain
This could be some telltale sign
Of what may deadly malign.

It may start as a minor pinch
That swells to fatally lynch....
It may sprout as a tiny wart
That will spread to every part....

Good servant is our prostate-
Aggrieved, it turns an apostate.
Cervix to be frequently checked
Averts it being fully wrecked!

Never remain cold or be mum
While nursing a swollen gum
Nor suspect: “it’s the breeze.”
When you continually sneeze...

You did not swallow dry bones
Nor ingest some raw prawns....
When suffering a runny tummy
Quickly alert sweet mummy!

Nay, when eyes are bloodshot
You are not upset-you are not.
But, be wary of a lurking bug
That in future you may not shrug!

My Husband Talks To Animals

MY HUSBAND TALKS TO ANIMALS

My husband talks to animals.
With squirrels he has conversations
and blue jays often counsels.

With squirrels he has conversations
concerning the garden and digging;
to Dudley the cat he makes observations.

Concerning the garden and digging
he likes neat, green and salient.
It sounds funny but I’m not kidding!

He likes neat, green and salient,
my husband who talks to animals…
At least he’s stopped talking to aliens.

Premium Member Farmer Fred Talks Baseball

One afternoon as I walked by,
Saw Fred staring at the sky.
I stopped and shouted out a “Hi!”
Fred gave me a wave and beckoned me nigh.

I had no place I had to be.
So, I wondered over for to see,
What it was Fred wanted of me.

Would you like a beer?
I have a few on ice right here.
So, we sat beneath a maple tree
And this is what Fred shared with me.

“I’ve been cogitating on some numbers.
Ruth hit 60 back in 27
Took till 61 for Maris to hit 61
Ford Frick gave it the asterisk
Because baseball went from 154 to 162
Games that is, and it took Maris all 162
The record to break
Now it held up till 98
When Sosa and McGwire hit 66 and 70
In 99 they hit 63 and 65 respectively
All of this was undone in 01
When Bonds hit 73
All these homeruns seemed an anomaly
Then Conseco spilled the truth
All these guys were on the juice
In plain and simple terms
To break the records, they defeated
Each of them had actually cheated
Numbers often tell a story
When numbers shift in great proportion
There is always an explanation for the distortion.”

Then Fred reached down and grabbed a stick.
Waved it around as if he were performing a trick.
Next, he started writing on the ground,
When he was done, I looked down and found:

52.6  53.3  50.2  55.2  49.0  51.2  56.7  58.2  54.9  55.7  66.8
 80      84     88     92    96     00    04     08     12     16     20

Now what is this I inquired of Fred?
This is what Fred said.

I first voted in 1980
So, each year’s voter turnout I have listed.
See in 2020 the numbers shift in great proportion
And I can only think of one explanation for the distortion.

When a Bag Talks

I am a bag
I was polished but now I sag
can't I be your next best friend?
though I'm not a soul that can mend
I carry your heavy load
still you don't care me for good
you put inside of me
anything you please
that sometimes I'm suffocated
and cannot breathe
from paper, clothes, and toiletries
why not bring your own house instead?
I have a favor to plead,
just once, listen to my heed
please bathe me in a soapy water
or dry cleaned to protect
my sensitive skin
then I'll be feeling fresh and new
ready to be of service, and on the go!
