Best Spindrift Poems
The ocean speaks in poetry
Syllables slammed into the sand, sounding out the tides
Like a language uttered by ancient beings
Ripples flicker from the shore, forming words that echo in the crash of waves
Cool, blue-green waters contain the sentences of silent love
Even the wind whispers the condemnation of the structured
The forced strictness of the grammatical,
The drumbeat of raindrops are rhythm enough for the surf
A heartbeat wildly stuttering in a dance of speechless beauty
The grand jete of a ballerina stretching for the sun in the crest of a wave
A quest, unstoppable, for a higher power than gravity.
A music beyond silence yet above sound
A fluent fluctuation in the depths of emotion
A soul surrounded by the stranglehold of purpose
Pulled over the edge of reasoning and into an abyss free of thought,
Free from the confines of the chemical, mechanical, mathematical, logical,
Something that defies the dictates of society
Antonyms that reflect the intangible
Sorrowful joy - memories sunk beneath the spindrift
Lonely love - a bond that will never be broken
Contained vastness - like the ocean beating upon the shore
Poetry.
Soaked by a spectacular spindrift,
liminal lingering leaves me locked up;
My eyes, a glass covered in sea salt;
Warm spray masquerades the rim.
Liminal lingering leaves me locked up,
waiting on tempestuous mavericks;
Warm spray masquerades the rim,
sprinkles intrude and steal the sip.
Waiting on tempestuous mavericks
to deepen this dance of distraction;
Sprinkles intrude and steal the sip
stifling the potency of chosen poison.
To deepen this dance of distraction
every wave is a wondrous swoosh;
Stifling the potency of chosen poison,
disguised as such intricate beauty.
Every wave is a wondrous swoosh;
My eyes, a glass covered in sea salt.
Disguised as such intricate beauty,
soaked by a spectacular spindrift.
he crossed his weary legs on the beach and meditated
breathed in and out quietly to the tune of tidal composure
unaware that drift sand and flood would cause him to rise
over and above consciousness but levitation would heal
him from suffering when he felt a tickle on his third eye
as the lotus flower submerged he felt the kiss of a dolphin

how proper that I found you
for my farewell midst the dunes
those sands where I did oft' adore
your flesh daubed by the moon
o numberless, the softened eves
those callow hearts would wend
but promises quite often grieve
and swift would come their end
to press my kiss upon your eye
dove cheek, soft placed a-palm
I bent to meet your sullen sigh
so breathed for kindness' calm
devoutly yours, my self entire
the draught to draw your wine
you yet devour'd me, eyes afire
white-kneed before your shrine
my blood as passion, let to be
the sweet sate for your thirst
a fiery flood you then set free
a seed consumed and cursed
o how's a laurel placed a-brow
this man, so chilled and damned
can bring such deed to thus avow
lost love wrought on the sand
and tho' I wore a garland, brief
so crowned for summer's death
our love had withered as a leaf …
'midst autumn's flaming breath.
