Greatest Loss

Greatest Loss
For me my pain is quite simple
I lost a loved one before my first pimple
We argued about her potential pregnancy
Hours later, she took her life in front of me
Every morning I awaken, I see the blood
I scream, I cry, I feel like mud
I cannot help but hate myself
But I need to put my blame on a shelf
I need to get on with my life, this I know
For if I don’t, I surely will never grow
Though my heart aches every morning and night
Her smile will always be in my mind and my hearts sight

Just a Perspective

This morning I woke
With a tear in my heart, I
Brushed it away late

I went outside, found
There tears on the morning grass
My child called it dew

I saw through both, one
Reality for our sorrow
Broken shines like dew

So my tears lingered
Long until the sun came up
And drank dry my cup

But left memory
Like a leaf to store its kiss
Beside budding grief.

Nothing Else Counts

The streets are embraced by this threatening night,
She's sunk in his warm, not yet sober embrace.
They promised each other that things would go right,
Yet all their hopes stand for counting days.

The morning will frown - one desperate kiss,
The sign of unfortunate parting for two,
Will cease their dwelling in ignorant bliss,
Or blissful forgetting, whatever is true.

The well-known words in a new undertone
Of whispering voices are fading away.
The morning will frown, and she will be gone;
He'll vanish in sleep till around midday.

They'll meet when the streets are embraced by the dark.
With no place to go, to never be found,
With lives half-forgotten, with nothing to mark.
But they have each other, and nothing else counts.

In the Mourning

(the sun rises) blurry...as he gains consciousness and notices the beautiful woman laying
next to him.."WHA...WHAT HAPPENED??" her hair pitch black..like brown skin..the sheets hug
her curves...she sleeps so beautiful...did he have something to do with her exhaustion..if
only he could remember... She turns and opens her eyes..as the sun hits her brown eyes she
speaks.."good morning baby"..."good morning to you too" his face still puzzled as to who
she really is.." is everything okay hunnie??"..."I don't know..I can't remember.." his
mind blank to her existence.."can't remember what?"...he slightly pauses the
replies.."you"...as he leaves the bed she grabs his arm and tears well in her eyes.."so
you don't remember this??" she raises her hand wielding a gold wedding band..encrusted
with bright canary diamonds in a uniquely made pattern..his face dropped..and so did her
tears.."HOW COULD YOU FORGET??" but I'm his condition he couldn't find an answer...his
mind..diminishing by the hour..but..thing..returning to him...he remembers...he dress..the
smile on her face that day..but something was missing..a huge gap of memories..how could
he forget.."I REALLY DON'T KNOW" he walked out of the room into the bathroom..leaned over
the sink...and another came back..her standing behind him...caressing his back.."I can't
live without you baby" but why...why are these memories not there ??..he washes his
face..and she walks in...stands behind him and rubs his back.."I can't live without you
baby" DEJA VU..."last night was so amazing..can't you just act like you still love
me..please.." his face said everything.."I wish I could remember what you are talking
about" he notices no ring on his finger..what really happened..?? WAIT...there it
is..him..her...they..yea that's it..."I'm supposed to pick up the divorce papers today"
she backed away..and he felt her heart drop... It hurt..hurt more than any gunshot
wound..more that a limb being torn off... And he showed no emotion..they had the world in
their hand..that night..but in the morning..the love they had..was left in that night.. . . .

Where the Flowers Grow

Upon a hill I carried her
To put her in the ground
In a place where flowers grow
Is where I laid her down

I walk that hill each morning
To the flowers by the spring
In that place where flowers grow
I can hear the angels sing

Among the morning glories
A rose stands tall and true
In that place where flowers grow
Has become a part of you

I'll walk this hill morning and night
'Til my hair starts turning gray
Then in that place where flowers grow
Beside you I will lay

And when my life on earth is gone
The world will finally know
Love is found on top that hill
In a place where flowers grow

The Closet

At three in the morning she turns on the light
While clutching her teddy bear
She runs to the closet as they start to fight
Knowing she's safe in there

Her pillow is tucked beneath her arm
As she silently starts to weep
She whispers to Teddy, she'll keep him from harm
A promise, she can't possibly keep

Night after night for sixteen years
Her closet becomes her bed
Her nightmare comes true, it brings her to tears
As she finds her poor mother dead

She's all grown up with a son of her own
Married to the love of her life
But bound to repeat the seeds that were sown
She becomes the next battered wife

At three in the morning he turns on the light
While clutching his teddy bear
He runs to the closet as they start to fight
Knowing he's safe in there.
