Apollo 11

Armstrong, Collins and Aldrin
were the three that made up the crew
to be the first men to set foot on the moon
was what they were determined to do.

1969 was the year that it happened
16 July was the day
early that morning the blast- off took place
Apollo 11 was sent on its way.

They went over their plans for 3 or 4 days
on their way as they traveled through space
then it was time to descend to the moon
and gently land on its face.

On 20 July they made their descent
in the lunar module they commanded
History was made when we heard these words
"Houston, the Eagle has landed."

Neil Armstrong stepped out of the Eagle
and uttered these words so defined
"One small step for man
one giant leap for mankind."

An American flag was left on the moon
as a reminder of what they had done
they returned to Earth on July 24
their success was second to none.

This event went down in History
its success helped us to learn
that though other planets are quite far away
we can go there and safely return.

Premium Member The 1960's

In the 1960's the winds of change were blowing
As a generation came into its own
A feeling of revolution was growing
The seeds had already been sown

It was a time of hope and tears
Of the good the bad and the ugly
Of spaghetti westerns so aptly named
Make love not war protests proclaimed
But the war raged on just the same

The Barbie doll was introduced
 And Beatlemania was set loose
Platform shoes were riding high
Mini skirts showed off thighs
Neil Armstrong walked on the moon
"This Magic Moment" was a hit tune
Everyone was doing the twist
To rhythms they couldn't resist

John Kennedy was the new president,
And planned to change the status quo
But on a fateful day in 1963
An assassin's bullet found its mark
And left a nation in the dark
Dr King and Robert Kennedy met the same fate
They were both killed in 1968

By the end of the decade we were left with a sad song
"Has anybody here seen our good friends Martin, Robert, and John
They stood for freedom and justice
But we just looked around ....and they were gone"

Prophet Mohammed and Holy Quran Miracle

Every prophet comes with miracles...someone asks what were the miracles of prophet Mohammed(May peace be upon him), now I will be mentioning some of them in the future, but here is one that I know and NASA did know when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon...he found a very wide line splitting the moon into to equal parts...As you know they properly didn't mention that fact ,but anyone who read the astronaut Neil Armstrong Biography may find that information,,,everybody in Earth was fascinated by the fact that Humans made it to the moon.

the splitting of the moon was performed by God during the life of Prophet Muhammad(May peace be upon him) in order to convince Quraysh of his prophethood.[8][9] Virtually all Muslim commentators accept the authenticity of those traditions. The following Sorah 54:2, "But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, 'This is (but) transient magic'" is taken in the support of this view.[9] The classical commentator Ibn Kathir provides a list of the early traditions mentioning the incident: A tradition transmitted on the authority of Anas bin Malik states that Muhammad split the moon after the pagan Meccans asked for a miracle.

The splitting of the moon (Arabic: ?????? ??????) was a miracle attributed to Muhammad in Islamic tradition.[1] It derives from the Qur'anic Sora "Sura Al-Qamar, Sora1-3"54:1-2: The HOUR (of Judgment) is nigh and the moon did split. And if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is transient magic." Sura Al-Qamar

One Step Ahead

Neil Armstrong shot off to the moon
Strapped into a cosmic cocoon.
He came to renown
When one foot went down
Ahead of poor Buzz -what a boon!

But as they returned to home base,
Buzz had a big smile on his face.
For there on the sea
Of tranquility
He'd aced the first 'selfie' in space!

Reformed Patriotism: Defining America

America is an idea
that "all men are created equal,"
before we cared to define "human", "created", or "equal."
America is freedom for our grandchildren
in a manner we will never understand.

It is the founding fathers who died for liberty.
It is the darker brothers who fought for justice from kitchens and pulpits.
It is the poor, the huddled masses,
And their children who have forgotten this.

It is green cards that become blue passports.
It is unlearning the language of our grandparents.
It is knowing how to pronounce Arkansas and Illinois
It is enjoying barbecues on somber national holidays.

It is unbridled enthusiasm.
It is unbridled arrogance.
It is rugged individualism;
It is passionate paternalism.

It is hellfire that scorches deserts.
It is a gust that has fanned flames.
It is a cool rain that puts out fires.

From sea to shining sea--
It is Manifest Destiny
from Louis and Clark to Wounded Knee.
It is Topaz, and McCarthy,
and hundreds of things we would rather forget.
It is D-day, and Neil Armstrong,
and thousands of things we forget to celebrate.

America is a dream that rings from the red hills of Georgia
to the curvaceous slopes of California
to New York Island.

It is patriotism;
it is progress.
It is the blind worship of our past.

It is red. It is blue.
It is red, white, and blue.
It is what half of us say it isn't.
I say it evolves constantly;
others say it was created in His image.

It is everything I hold dear;
it is everything that infuriates me.
It is the warmth that makes my eyes tear
when I hear the Star Spangled Banner
at football games,
on July 4th,
or on September 11th.

It is hope.
It is the promise of a better tomorrow.
It is what ever I am.
I, too, am America.

Premium Member Dont Ascertain When You Dont Know

Self knowledge equated to the encyclopedia
and perceived facts, products of personal reasoning
the efficacy of thoughts should not be questioned
and assumptions simply made real and absolute

Typical of such a thought stamps on convictions that
the banana and plantain are the same
a superior race surely exist
leg size has a great correlation with the male’s genital
the measure of one’s success is solely factored
in his accumulation of wealth
and money is the root of all evil.

This mindset can walk on hot coal just to prove these points
Columbus was the first European to visit the Americas
bulls are colour blind and bats are completely blind
women are subordinates to men
and a pure heart is one which covers its body from head to toe

This mind can even tear its clothes to rags
in displeasure to your opposition to issues such as
Sydney is Australia’s capital
the earth’s evolution is the cause of day and night
Africa is a country and its inhabitants exchange
morning greetings with the Lion and the Chimpanzee
and Neil Armstrong is the first human to journey into out space

Despite carrying the internet even to the dreams
and having global captions mixed with daily breath
assumptions such as these are nurtured
religiously, with rigidity and military acceptance
the biggest illiterate of the 21st century is one
who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn
so said Alvin Toffler, the Australian Educationist.
Oh sorry! The American futurist

Premium Member A Tribute To Neil Alden Armstrong

The end of an era has come and gone
Right before our eyes;
With the man who first stepped on the moon
Having said his last goodbyes.
While tens of thousands of engineers,
Scientists and lovers of space
Helped lift him up and get him there,
No one else can take his place.
From his childhood to the final countdown;
Separation to “The Eagle has landed,”
There was something unique about Neil Armstrong
Who never once felt lost or stranded.
While planting America’s Stars and Stripes
And walking in lunar dust,
Not hardly for himself alone
But for every one of us.
Seemingly, so long ago
But then again, not long at all;
America never felt so good
And we all walked ten feet tall.
When Neil returned
The fires burned inside our homes and hearts;
As the promise of a new age dawned
We believed in a brand new start.
From earth to sky we’d learned to fly
And Neil Armstrong took us there;
First of his kind to sail through time
And walk where no one else dared.
The end of an era has come at last
As time and history march on;
And some men’s marks are made to last
Not least of all, Neil Armstrong’s.

Premium Member My Favorite Number

I was born on July 20, 1958.

Being one of seven children and having a mid-summer birthday, even as a young boy, it was
not uncommon for my birthdays to come and go without much fanfare.

In the winter of my Fifth Grade year at school, we had an assignment to write a short-story.
I was already in love with writing way back then. My short story was on a topic that was
very much in the news at that time and a very interesting and exciting theme for a young
boy. I wrote a short story about me being the youngest astronaut in the space program and
being selected to be the first astronaut to walk on the moon. I was aware at the time, that
the US and USSR were in a Cold War race to be the first country to achieve that lofty goal
and I knew it was bound to happen soon. To make my story even more special, I wrote that
this wonderful event would take place over the coming summer, on my birthday!

Well, lo and behold, as the winter turned to spring and spring turned into summer the Apollo
11 space mission launched from Cape Canaveral carrying three astronauts, two of whom
were targeted to walk on the moon.

As my 11th birthday approached, without any notice from anyone else, I watched in awe as
the Apollo 11 made its way to the moon. On July 20th, 1969, the lunar landing module,
Eagle, set down on the moon! I remember expectantly waiting for the astronauts to be given
permission to exit the Eagle and step foot on the moon’s surface as the hours of my birthday
ticked down.

It was about 10:00 pm eastern time when my parents finally sent us all to bed on the news
that Mission Control made the decision to wait until the next day to send Neil Armstrong out
of the lunar module. With tears in my eyes, I went to bed thinking that I missed my chance
to share my birthday with history and to have had my short story prognostication come true.

At a few minutes before 11:00 my parents woke all of us up to come watch as Neil
Armstrong could wait no longer and talked Mission Control into letting him walk on the moon
without further delay.

So, at about 11:00 pm, on my 11th birthday, the men from Apollo 11 walked on the moon for
the first time in history. One small step for man and one giant link to history for one small
boy in Charleston, West Virginia.

And, that is when 11 became my favorite number.

Where Is Neil,The First Man On Moon

Where is Neil??
(Written in memory of Neil Armstrong, the first man to step on the moon
 who died on 25.08.2012)

Where is Neil? No words from any lips.
Has he gone out side to see his Moon?
I walked outside to ask the Moon
About her first man close to her ribs.

No moon was seen, only tears raining
                                  like August  rain;
Pale amidst patch of cloud ,
                         she wept and wept.

Neil where are you,? So deaf as tear and silence,?
                                   Whom shall I ask?
Carol Knight * in Indian Hill
Or Moon, the beauty in the sky?

‘One small step for man ,One giant leap for mankind’
On the breast of moon you writ;
At first step ,you felt her inch deep shyness ,
Remember ,who made you sing like a poet.?

An hour of love, an era of memory;
Neil and moon whosoever can never forget
Don’t hide, go to kiss the wailing moon.
I wish to see the moon smiling down
Holding Neil in her arms To give a wink….

And soon all will smile back
                        at such celestial ring.

NOTE-Shortly after the death of Neil ,his family released a statement for those who may ask what they can do to honour Neil,we have a request.Honour his example of service, accomplishment and modesty and next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.

Premium Member To the Moon

In April of '57 the US got quite the shock
   The Soviets launched Sputnik
   The space satellite rock
We fell behind in the race from that very day,
That is, until we elected a President named
            J F K...

Only three months into his term
1961, April, back then
   Yuri Gagarin orbited Earth
Those Russians were at it again
JFK circled the wagons with the White House clan
Told 'em ~ America's got to win this race in the end...

Alan Shephard went up in the month of May
But as fast as he shot up, just that fast he came down
Compared to Gagarin, he was a monkey, a clown
Strapped tight to a board--rigid, upright
He did nothing but endure the vertical flight
     ~Unlike Gagarin, who manually controlled
his takeoff and landing, the ultimate goal

Then Grissom went up in the month of July
He seemed to fly nicely and pretty high
But at the end of the day
   His near-disastrous landing
   Clearly was NOT 'A-OK."

And by February '62
When Glenn orbited the Earth
Those Soviets led us by quite a wide berth.

Kennedy grimaced, fuming inside
He reckoned it was time for us to take pride
in our space program, to date a big bust
~ In the race 'gainst the Soviets, a win was a must

So he gathered his courage and adjusted his vision
Set out for Rice University, appeared on television
Challenging us, coaxing us, squeezing us, urging us
   with this daring question--
so the Soviets wouldn't be 'purging' us:

          Some people ask, 'Why?'
               To them I reply
            with all that I've got
               ~ Why not?

Then he set this agenda for NASA,
America's fledgling space agency:
Put a man on the moon before 1970!
    ~ JFK's proudest legacy

Postscript: On July 20, 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong,
took man's first step on the lunar surface
~"One small for man; one giant leap for mankind."

Premium Member Apollo 11

It was the third lunar mission
Of the Apollo space program;
Destination was the earth’s moon
Where two men were going to land.

Neil Armstrong was the Commander;
Piloting the Columbia was Michael Collins;
Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin would Pilot the Eagle;
The landing craft they would land in.

Aldrin landed the Eagle
In the Sea of Tranquility,
While millions watched on TV sets,
Including my family and me.

On July 20, 1969,
Men from the Apollo 11 space flight
For the first time walked on the moon
Late on that summer night.

I’ll never forget the exact day it occurred;
It’s a special day for me;
I shared my eleventh birthday
With the men of Apollo 11 and history.

Neil Armstrong

The great man is dead
And he may find in this voyage
So many Columbus that left us blind
Without knowledge
Of earth indisputable speck
Steering the shipwreck
With malfunctioned cameras of dream.

The great man is dead
What this this new situation for him
Who made the first step
Through the wilderness of galaxies
On the threshold of the moon
Ambiguous mystery of origin
That makes man's giant leap?

The great man is dead,
An an entire age follows after him
Dwindling our thirst for adventure
By the measure fear
Of what our puny worth affords.
He was our Balboa there.
Death is something that happened here
A long before parachute sail
Confronted the invisible with dead arguments.

Death then is his escape
The brilliant subplot of faith
Refuting all the universe as strings
For why die to become what already are
Stars die to become stars
He dies to give back to dust
What dust has denied it wants to be.
The death of great men
Still make us see, how common we are
How similar from birth to end
How flimsy the mirage in which we pretend.

Shall I tell him farewell
Whom I soon shall meet
Not differing in status, not separated by class
Just dust of star become food for grass
That shall in one soon season
Become indistinguishable from us
Little specks
In the universe of great mysteries.
Let me salute him who fired boyhood to believe
Life is greater than man's logic perceives.

A Giant Leap For Mankind

Men land on the moon,
A giant leap for mankind.

As men strived for the stars.
They forgot all their differences,
but not who they are.

On July 20, 1969,
Neil Armstrong changed everything.
He was the first man to step onto the moon.
There's no limit to what man can do.

This is not fiction,
but a historical fact.
One that would change everything,
No matter where you're at.

People put away,
their childish ways.
An pulled together,
This was a new age.
This was the time,
of the great Space Race.
