Far beyond the edges of my reasoning a beautiful dream stood…waiting to come true
A dream erected up from cold dusty earth to the searing proximity of the sun
A star like dream, one built from hopes, aspirations and wishes
One whose light is drawn in and out from other stars
In its shadow lays the memory of soft spoken goodbyes and gentle kisses
I have led my life on the side lines too afraid to repeat your mistakes
See I learned the hard way what not to break
The shattered pieces of her heart lay across the living room floor
I have learned also then how to find my way across the battlefield of broken vows
Because growing up when you’re being pushed back and forth between
What you got and what you wanted makes you question
The truths that are your foundation
You start to see cracks in the, ‘I love you’s’ and ‘I miss you’s’
And notice the fractures between the, ‘You are my worlds” and the “I can’t live without you’s’
See this father is why my heart has no door even to let me in
Because I live in the consequence of these lessons that you teach
But father know that you are a dream among dreams
A dream whose quarter is rooted in reality
And whose walls I built an inch from fantasy
You are a dream whose ends touch the circumference of the hole that you left
Your razor blade edges cut the inside of my mind and shows up as scars in my personality
But you kept my world and heart from falling apart
Now you are gone…
Where he used to be, God please put a new morning and the fragrance of cherry blossoms in
Spring, let the sunshine in and with it reasons to smile, let me hear the laughter of my
soul and give me PEACE
Amazing, calming, PEACE where there was none.
Amen
Little and cute braids in her hair.
I walk through the door,
and she's standing there.
In a walker and smiles so much.
She has the personality of
her father and grace of her mothers touch.
In a high chair she loves so much food.
Little and feisty, she's my chunky waamba a bit spoiled too much.
Both are much older now.
They've lost so much.
The touch of their father who they love and miss so much.
They've cried so many nights and have felt betrayed.
I would do anything to bring him back again.
I know he's seeing them now, their both all grown,
High school students and about to be on their own.
They're my nieces you see.
They just want things to go back to the way it use to be.
One aunt ever opened sore.
For when they're hurt,
It destroys me even more.
My love for these two girls is endless like time.
One wish I have is to unwind.
Give back to them the
father they've lost.
With tears in my eyes. I'll help them
succeed. As a single mom,
I know that a dad is all
they need. I've been there too,
He's alive... but, it's as though he's not here.
They’re my, Precious Gems.
Empty pocket a father is burned in hell.
No bread no money he rambles all day long.
Crying inside to win in the battle of poverty.
A thousand sands he crosses to the wilderness
Of the wilderness of valley.
Praying he provide bread and butter for the birds nest.
With empty pocket the family is dying in disgrace.
His soul is crush with hammer.
Praying that he can be a provider.
As the sunset soon sleeps.
The day is over.
Empty pocket is a burden of a father inner soul.
Empty hand is empty father.
Borrowed Time
--------------
As I watched my grandmother close her eyes for the last time,
I’m reminded of something my father told me many years ago.
“We all live life on borrowed time” as he patted me on the back.
His words were confusing at the time, but his soft voice was comforting.
How can you borrow time? And from whom?
And if time was so easy to borrow, why didn’t grandma borrow more?
My little mind was perplexed.
Time passes like leaves in the wind,
And all too soon my father met the same fate as my beloved grandmother.
And though I had no son at the time to pass along such words of wisdom,
My father’s voice came clearly to mind, and I thought to myself.
We all live life on borrowed time,
What I wouldn’t give to be able to borrow just a little more.
The night that my Father died
Written By D.A.M
October 11, 2009 (6:17pm)
The night that my father died
caught me
completely by surprise
And yet such a strange
feeling
came over me that night
And I wanted to call him
at home in an instant
But it was already Ten O’clock
And I knew that he
would be
in bed for the night
So I made the decision to wait
Because I didn’t want to wake him
Because I knew that he was already asleep
But something happened to me that night
That I will never ever forget
Because right before
it was Ten O’clock
I had an eerie feeling come over me
Because I could feel his presence
as if his spirit came to me to let me
know
That he was going away
so that he could be with all of
his loved ones in Heaven that night
And nearly twenty years have
come and gone since then
And I will never forget
that night when my Father died
Because right before he made his ascension
into Heaven I could feel him
as he kissed my forehead and said goodnight
