My Shoes

I have this thing called ADHD
The H isn’t silent, I’ll help you to see
Ever since I was small, it’s lived inside me
It affects who I was, am and will be

Most people know, the layer on top
A tid bit of knowledge before the facts stop
Evaluating their lives, they tend to conclude
From the limited facts, they must have it too

But I need to speak up, I yearn to be heard
This isn’t a fad, or something I’ve learned
But rather, a voice, indecisive and quick
Listing my options, insisting, I pick

It never shuts up and will never be pleased
Off my terror and panic, it greedily feeds
Trembling with jitters, it fears the unknown
I lock in my choice, but it never moves on

Attached to my ear, I gave it a name
This relentless voice is none other than shame
Guilt and short comings, smeared in my face
A constant reminder, I’m not fit to race

The H stands for hyper, when in fact, I am tired
It refers to my brain and the way it is wired
I fidget when seated and excuse myself often
I come across rude, but my shoes must be walked in

I desperately try to absorb, process and act
I work hard to be average and display enough tact
But a fairly small task becomes a tricky ordeal
My response is to panic. It’s an everyday drill

It’s mental exhaustion, causing physical fatigue
I’m smart, but I’m slow. No patience to read
I’m resentful and sad. It seems so unfair
But these are my shoes and my shoes I must wear

Premium Member Ode To An Impostor

What smug pseudomorph
inhabits my reflection,

adroitly mimicking my
every manner and expression,

mercilessly mocking me
with flawless simulation?

She is the great pretender;
a master counterfeiter;
a furtive opportunist;
a thieving imitator.

She is a soul-sucking demon
of the gravest degree;
a brazen parasite
feeding on health and ingeny,

pillaging my youth
with savage gleam and glee;
siphoning my precious hollow
of vitality.

Time ticks across my aging face
while our eyes lock in defiance,
and in the end, my spurious friend
will demand my full compliance.

So, with a twinkling eye I wink
at my mirrored facade,
acknowledging this fearsome foe
with a playful nod.

Respectfully reciprocal,
she gestures back to me in kind,
and we part as esteemed enemies,
to my last breath resigned.

There Is No Other

Trinkets of touch saved for memories keeping
Traces of love we now lock in our hearts
Days never end as the mornings beginning
Tears find their path in our moments apart
 ~
Catching a glimpse of the barren horizon
Wondering what it will bring to our eyes
Simply the thought of the one true affection
Caught in the stars that do light up the skies
 ~
Here as I sit on this beach ever changing
Lost in the mind is the essence of proof
Moving my feet, causing ruts in the sand floor
Noticing nothing aside from the truth
 ~
Why does it seem that this life wallows empty
Every day is the same only more
Swiftly the clouds bring the rain’s chilly vision
Dreaming of only the one I adore
 ~
Drinking the drops in the puddles of reason
Splashing against all that I’ve ever known
Capturing dreams in a spoon that is leaking
Now as I write in these words all alone
 ~
Hard to believe that a flower is blooming
Fragrance as sweet as the heart beat we share
Chains bear the lock that does keep me from reaching
Look but don’t touch is the warning...beware
 ~
I long to run down the path of decision
Challenge my fear in this soft ocean breeze
Finding a cave at the edge of the mountain
Placing my soul in the shadows to breathe
 ~
Only my heart keeps me here by the wayside
Hoping beyond every truth that does form
Lasting the pain of this fearless affection
Keeping my place in the face of the storm
 ~
Proving to no one’s un-answering questions
Feeling ashamed as I’ve nothing to show
Still I will wait on the eve of my lifetime
Promising always that I’ll love you so
 ~
For I am a man who does desperately need you
There is no other that I’m thinking of
Here I will sit as the world it is ending
Counting the days till I know your sweet love
 ~
Why can’t we meet at the same destination
Drink of the day that affords us the view
Forget the world and its many distractions
Except for this love that I hold here for you
 ~

Have a great weekend everyone, see you on Monday.

Premium Member My New Years Resolution

My New Years resolution is not to make any more New Years resolutions!
I've made 'em in the past but they died on the craggy shoals of the Aleutians!
I'd swear to ease up on the vittles but I caught those scales lyin' to me.
I tried to curb my cussin' by usin' terms like gosh, darn and golly gee!

I resolved to be more courteous to other drivers and not flex my middle digit,
And be more patient with my kids when they wanted to squirm and fidget!
I vowed to take my dentist's advice and floss my choppers each and every day.
I flossed religiously but lost my religion leavin' my teeth prone to decay!

I promised myself that I'd exercise regularly in order to keep fit and trim,
But preferred lollin' in my LazyBoy with a beer sans goin' to the gym!
'Tis obvious when it comes to keepin' resolutions I ain't got much fortitude,
So I reckon I'll take my chances and not lock-in on any inane platitude!

Premium Member Opinions

I won't cut your opinion,
Even if we disagree.
Each of us has a dominion.
The 'truth' is what we see.

Some, lock in disagreement,
Then counter with persistence.
To views that are recurrent.
I think I'll keep my silence.

Midnight

Masonic rituals performed by dancing shadows
Inspired by the pale moons light
Demons tempting chaste virgins
Needing comfort in the chilling night
Incandescent spectres, like mist, crawl from the mere
Garnished in willow-o-wisp shrouds
Honour to the midnights guardians
That cry their allegiance, to the sky, aloud

Trapped within the tunnel vision
Harbringer seeks familiar ground
Granite bars lock in silence
Interrupted by the baying hound
Nwyvre seated on throne of stars
Deeming this the vision hour
Isis sits nursing dawns unborn light
Midnight; time of greatest power

You and Me

Yell at me, put me down
Scream at me, I'll show a frown
Love me, I'll love you
Adore me, and I'll obsess you

Why don't we see the problem
Till the situation is at it's end
Why don't we see the problem
and some times just pretend

What is your reason for words
Fighting me with them every second
What is your reason for words
when we say we love each other and blend

Why can't we always solve them
The situation doesn't have a cure
Why can't we always solve them
The ones where you walk away to lock in a stir

Why do you fly with birds
To escape diseased problems and what they lack
Why do you fly with birds
Our answers are never coming back

The Problem is our questioning of love
I love you no matter what, even when push comes to shove
I love your eyes and their addicting sight
your mouth, your lips my love will put up a fight

Don't ever question
Were better than those who do
I'm sorry if you wanted me to say something more
But It's kind of hard to do on Que

if i could hold you in

my arms

stroke your hair

feel your hand against

the back of my neck

strip you bare

disrobe

stroke your breasts

play with your back

just tickles with my fingers

just feathered strokes

while you lie naked in anticipation

and our shadows

on the wall

mimic us

use my lips

against your skin

bury them into yours

like silk on satin

move my tongue

down your spine

to reach that split

i love to lick

lock in a passionate kiss

lasts for days

so in love

the touch of you

the look of you

so in love

and our shadows

on the wall

now merge

two images

now one

against the wall

satin on silk

oiled skin

flesh on flesh

we slide

our bodies touch

two people in love

twisting in and out

our hides

our soft

i penetrate

you gasp

i lose myself

in the unconscious

feeling of love

lasts a minute

lasts a day

lasts a week

still locked

in the beat

in the movement

in the rhythm

of love

of sex

of lust

of a simple kiss

of the pounding of hips on hips

and you never end

and i never stop

and one shadow

dances the seven veils

paradise is you

your eyes of blue

so in love

touch every part of you

with every part of me

and a month passes

and the shadows

disappear into the wall

we in a pool

the water soothes

naked we undulate

everyone looking

at us two

they smile

begin to touch too

we spread it

through the pool

our love

and still it is just you

our shadows flicker

in the candle lit room

a passionate kiss

a gentle touch

a hard penetrating thrust

and thrust

and thrust again

hard

light

it never ends

this love

it never ends

you and me

it never ends

us

and i gasp

and we start again

and our shadows blush

and our shadows watch

as i consume

your juice

as you swallow

me too

and we move

suspended in mid air

we move

our move of sex

lust

i love you

now

forever more

it's us.

The Beautiful Heart

We cringe with the icy cold
Wind blowing away the foggy cloud,
Drifting off into the tearful sleep
At noon and at night illusions keep,
Hearts wrapped with chimeric dreams.
Decisions glow in the warmest flames
Winding through the fading moonlight.
With the strongest part of human act
The heart is beautiful and tragic.
Where most of our emotions are kept
Lock in secure places of fragile concept.
It takes more than actions to beat,
The billions of ambushes we defeat,
No weapons formed can break it down,
Stoney faces or the bewildered frown.
Insults and virtues comes out fighting
Crush it by love and sparks be igniting
Millions of beautiful stars around the globe,
The spoken word, letters in the envelope.
Push it into retreat and it will wait
Patiently encamp, outside the gate,
The heart is trustworthy, but beware
Of the snares, the conditional flare.
It takes only a single moment of betrayal
For the unconquered walls to fall
The kind that stay with the strain,
Live and strive, and self-esteem regain
Lie bruised in the dust, to heal inside
Find hope where the strong hearts hide,
The treasures of comforting bliss
Waiting to be discovered through a kiss.

The Day Of

Rising from bed wedding bells start to ring in your head
your heart will smile though your a little nervous inside

The hour is near with one finale look in the mirror
will make you some what nervous and shy

Your ladies of glory who will stand by your side
will give you ups and downs making you sometimes cry

Your sister of years who you have always held so dear
will make you cry as she tries to answer with a smile

She will lift your gown on your long walk of pride
you will both shiver and smile

At the door will stand your father who has given support to only let you deport
will make you both sob and cry

Your mother will rise as you glide down the isle
your eyes will lock in a soft whisper you both will cry

Your husband to be at the alter he will plead
will make you take a deep breath for the future you will see

When you read or repeat the pastors words as he reads
you will both smile and cry

The final words to be spoken "You now may kiss the bride"
will make you both smile as you flee down the isle

  Later in a quite place
the bride and grooms eyes will meet
with the only sound of two lovers heartbeat
you will smile and in a sigh say,
"Our life is so divine," as it's sealed with a kiss our life will always shine!

Why…..why…..must it be so hard??

Would that I had antlers
to woo the docile doe
lock in mock battle
of tree bark as foe.

Perhaps fine tail feathers
to spread in an arc
dance without castanets
from dawn until dark,

A wondrous scent
to slowly unfurl
sweet scented pheromones
to make her hair curl.

Maybe a chatter,
a click or a roar
to lead the sweet vixen
straight to my door.

Alas, being human
with opposable thumbs
I gaze at the screen
go droolingly dumb

fumble with texting,
tweets, and hash tags
fearful these beauties
might just be….. old hags.

Premium Member Losing Time

Days blend together, time's fabric is frayed
I'm a prisoner of my own verse,
Friends lose importance and eating’s past tense,
Things are going from troubled to worse.

Not that successful, poor poet at best,
But the pressure to write presses hard,
There’s no escaping though I push it down,
There are weeds taking over my yard.

Wonder if dinosaurs struggled with rhyme,
It seems clear that it did them no good,
Free verse seems doomed to a similar fate,
Even rhymers are knocking on wood.

Politics likely to kill us for sure,
Trump has studied the lost dodo’s path,
“Build a big wall and we’ll keep the rats out,”
While we lock in the worst psychopath.

Dodo bird even resembles Herr Trump,
Be my guest, just check Google and see,
“Smart as a pigeon,” peacock without tail,
A great emblem for our history.

Yesterdays Joy

Yesterday’s joy
How I wish I could stop the clock
And reverse every second to the time we first met
I can repeat the second line until time stand still
I swear sporadic will be harder if it means I must lose your site

Yesterday’s joy was hard to believe
I felt my heart expanding to lock in your tenderness
Our bond grew instantly and then I knew
Love, your lips taste much better than honey

I’m not sure what to call you!
Because honey is bitter than your sweetness
I have never journeyed beyond the clouds
But yesterday I was haven

You’ve touched deserted parts of my body
Like a piano played by the best pianist
You made me sing better than Pavarotti
Yesterday’s joy was incredible

Why did have to come in my sleep
So much joy we had last night
Now I’m only left with yesterday’s joy in my mind
O! I wish you were real!

Neverwas E.A.P. Part2

But nevermore my harsh friend, for I hear Kipling poignantly
Clearer now, when he beseeched “If neither foes nor loving friends
can hurt you.” I am holding nothing against you. But allow me a wry
smile as I imagine you sneering, or with morbid bacchanalian
fashion smiling with me, as I proclaim it is a 21st century movie
which sundered the lock in this, my bes-Poe-k (bespoke) manacle.

NEVERWAS my tormented brother, for once more I could meld dreams
with all that it seems. Once more there be castles and stalwart kings.
Once more there be beauty and strength in ideals held as faith and truth.
Once more there be no such thing as out of sanity, when I can hold
Aloft again a head full of flighty things. When I can believe again that
All that we see or seem is not a dream within a dream.

When this genius of a character proclaimed: “Once again, I live as I dream…”
