Scruples

...for my sons Keir and Evan

Truth is a two-edged sword,
you will be cut by nonsense,
not by circumstance, my son,
and blinded to its darker side
you'll drift in seas of innocence,
carefree as a neophyte
with all the answers pending,
daft and delirious, your youth is fully spent,
and dreams are never-ending,
immerse yourself in fantasies
as long as you are able,
and nestle, tightly held in heaven's tending.

The twin deceits will wriggle as you learn,
and even good will bring you sorrow,
as the ways of evil cause you strife;
differentiate, discern
that which you can beg or borrow
to lend a sweet contentment to your life.
Everyone will aggravate and meddle,
good and bad will jostle for attention,
the guilty and the innocent,
whatever they can camouflage or peddle
to cheat on their redemption,
(beware the sly recalcitrant!)

The glory of the earth is set before you,
flora, fauna, the duplicity of man,
the dust of stars, the rubble of creation,
the planets slowly spinning into view.
Amidst the whirl, the waste, do what you can,
identify the source of inspiration,
the sounds of summer singing in the grass,
birdsong, and the bliss of flowers in bloom,
the unity of things, below, above.
You'll make a difference in the days that pass,
as you give your fellow seekers elbow room,
uncompromising in your search for love.

The Room: Part One

Quiet room, perhaps
The hammering of keyboards
Talking at the back

Stammering Keir Starmer

Stammering Keir Starmer....

This Keir Starmer,
He's a Grandma harmer,
Not a ganja farmer.
He's a Bit of a dahmer,
Here in Britain,
Nothings calmer,
Like this Man,
Is a body embalmer.
Where's his charm-a,
A political armor,
In the House of Commons,
He’s a drama armer.

Policies not tighter,
A non-future igniter,
In the UK scene,
He’s a headline writer.
In this war though,
He's No kind of fighter.
His future's dark,
Though he promises brighter.
See,
Keir stammers so much,
He cant hold a damn lighter!
I bet you as well,
He's a cock 'n' ball biter.
Once hes been in your sheets,
They'll never again be whiter!

Spot the difference,
between him and a flying pig,
'F' is what you're looking for,
though lying ain't big.
Stammering Sir Starmer,
now he wears a minister's wig,
Hell Bent and broken,
he'll snap like a twig.

He can't handle his station,
like a dog can't a fig,
It's a toxication,
of our nation,
getting too big.
Causing damnation,
as he takes the public down,
With his damn inflation,
he's the unwanted,
Talk of the town.

Promises made,
but they're all just smoke,
In the halls of power,
He's a cruel joke.
Bent truths and twisted lies,
he's playing the game,
But the people see through,
they know his name!

Premium Member Sir Keir Starmer

Sir Keir Starmer
is the fifty-eighth British Prime Minister.
Maybe he's not charismatic, but he is pragmatic;
a defender of human rights and all things democratic.

A Political Crisis In Avian Terms

Richi, Liz and Boris,
which one will the fountain bless?
What wise owl flies to our aid
and pulls us from this mess?
Vultures make lazy circles
and falcons loop the loop.
Maybe they won't say boo to a goose
or are they planning when to swoop?

Keir Starmer's counting chickens,
but here there is a catch.
How long does he have to wait
before those chicklets hatch?

The Saviour of the Right

Rich with a conscious
Living in the city
A socialist soul
In a barrister cloths
His money worry’s
Involve can he count that high
And which home to use tonight
The tribulations of the socialist right
How dare the masses disagree
Its Europe all the way
The man's no sign post just a weather vane
Two Keir's do not make us labour
The red flag fly’s at half mast
And caps are doffed at labour passing
All hail Keir Starmer the saviour of the right

24 Hour News - Euro 24

Can anyone follow the news anymore?
during Euro 2024,
after the UK elections,
when I want to know the latest selections,
In Gareth Southgate’s team,
In Sir Keir Starmer’s team,
with everyone analysing, prophesying,
what this or that might mean.

Even if we heard those songs before,
all the pundits are oh so cock-sure,
everyone thinks they know the score,
the truth is nobody ever knows,
until that final whistle blows.

Everyone’s riding their luck, their chance,
pick up a history book, take a glance,
they never write any of them in advance.

That 2-1 defeat hurt, but it was no disgrace,
after all England, still claimed second place,
so I will congratulate Spain,
and celebrate how far our team came,
give our manager and players, respect that's due,
that's the least, that anyone can do.

The news from the US, just got even worse,
it's time that I returned to my verse,
or read the latest on Port Talbot steel,
then go back to following Labour's New Deal.

Rod Humphries was raging
As Keir Starmer came staging
You covid conniver!
Such lies lit this pyre'
Neath the sign of the Raven
He inferred of Keir coward craven'
Undeterred by a minder
He barred the sidewinder
Now more are wiser
We await a decider'

The House of Lords

Bored of deplored

Hordes of frauds

On abhorred company boards

Who applaud flawed

Seats stored…for cheats

Apply or buy on the fly

Enjoy till they die

Getting podgy..betting on dodgy bills

Thrills of blue pills

Moolah the ruler

Swills..fills the tills

Cash revenues poured

Toured here &

Did maraud abroad

All avenues explored

Scored a stash

Claps & back slaps

Promises will slash

Countries floored collapse

Nice one chaps

Ice caps thawed

Adored share price soared

Lust for boom & bust

Must lobby..trust us

Just a hobby jobby

Cigars smoked…booze soaked

Full to the gunnels

With coke choked

Vasal nasal funnels

Despite our fears and nadirs

For years on the fiddle

Peers sneers & jeers

Snaking beast will feast

Diddle..taking the piddle

Not least the riddle

Forgot forsaking the priest

Not reeling…Lords’ laughter

Cheers to Keir again

Feeling calmer after

Starmer’s dafter karma

Who’s forgotten it’s rotten

Even show pony Tony

Did more to stop

Crony phoney baloney

Our hopes on the ropes

Need a disdain campaign

Tropes to end

Champagne reign of gain

This inane arcane

Insane gravy train

The System Broke

Row after row of terraced houses
a thousand storys all with the same ending.
Clocking in clocking out
new born babys crying
old men dying.
Red letter days and no way to pay
this is the reality in england today.
Mininum wages ,maxium effort
bosses that drive brand new mercedes
politicians paid 3 times our wages
apathy rules, stuck in front of the tele
whats happening on love island
means more to the masses
as suicide rates go higher and higher.
Words and the speeches do not matter
when your elected representives
think they know better.
Keir Hardy and Bevan
would wonder whats happened
to this england.

A Brit politician named Starmer
I've heard is a bit of a charmer
He thinks it's his call
To come save us all
A knight without shining armor
