Smile of a Child

Smile of a child
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB
So innocent; so fragile
So gullible; but who can blame them
Powerless; no sense of direction
But filled with a seed of greatness

The smile of a child
So comforting; so fulfilling
Filled with strength
Fuelled with hope

No trace of darkness
It consumes every piece of it
It wins many hearts
And conquers many minds

All they need is love
All they need is warmth
A home and a sense of belonging
Then you experience the wonder of every smile
                                                                                                1 November 2012

Beautiful Soul

Beautiful soul
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB

In your heart there is a river
That flows so calm and still
In your eyes there I see a light
That shines like the sun

Beautiful soul beautiful soul
Wonderful light within thy eyes

I feel my heart raising as I gaze upon your eyes
Your eyes, your eyes filled with light
Leads the way to your soul

Patriotism

Patriotism
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB

As the rays of the sun fades away
A new form of reality comes of age
Sparkles of light come alive
And fill my bedroom window
It reflects the reality I face everyday
But amazingly I do not face it alone

On every street corner
And every bus stop
We share the same feeling
One word describes it, “Patriotism”
A sense of loyalty and pride
Pride in a beautiful, peaceful country

Namibia a flower along the streams
Filled with living water
Protected by a powerful Immortal King
A beautiful landscape
A place where the desert meets the sea
My country, Our country, Namibia 8 May 2012

I Call You Friend

I call you friend
By Herold Osmond Owoseb

I have walked for miles
I have seen the tiles
And felt the colours of the rainbow
I have seen your smile
For more than a while.
Have watched you grow and thrive;
Into the talented young woman you are today.
What else have I to say,
Other than that you have inspired me,
To be the bests me I could ever be.
Moments have come and gone
And I wish for that special smile to brighten my day
I have a friend I can call a friend,
Even when life brings the distance.
May you continue to blossom
And ignite like a torch of hope for many to see

Prisoner

Prisoner
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB
I dare not say that I am innocent for I am not
I have committed a crime
But my delinquency is contrary to felony
I have committed a crime of goodwill

My transgression may not require the compensation of a custodial sentence
But I deem it necessary to be jailed
Furthermore, I implore thee to let me hang by the tree
For I find no a reason to walk any longer

For too long I have carried the burden
Too long I have held on to this love
I have loved uncontrollably
My whole heart I have given unto thee

Though I am dubious of thy thoughts
I ponder on what to do
Locking the door is painful
But no longer can I wait, for a shooting star on a cloud-covered sky

                                                                                                     29 November 2011

I Will Carry You

I will carry you
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB

In expectation
Ready to receive
In expectation
Waiting for rain

The clouds gather
Progress a process
Waiting on the first drops
Can feel it in the breeze

Like silver and gold
I will treasure you
Through rivers and jungles
I will carry you

In the dark I will search
During the sunlight, I will pursue you
The day will come; I will find you
There is sign of rain

                                                                                                                19 January 2013

Under the Camelthorn Tree

Under the Camelthorn tree
By Herold Osmond Owoseb

Beneath the tree, lies thy heart
Beneath the tree lies the truth
Where strangers came to lay their head
Where creatures came to escape the heat
Beneath the tree, lies the key
The key that holds the peace
A peace that shows that we are free

Sonnet

Sonnet
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB
How do I say that which I am not permitted to say?
How do I live each day pretending that what I feel is not real?
Who do I tell about this I feel each day?
Who will remove this desire within me to be with you?
I live each day as if I no longer exist but this reminds me that I still breathe.
It reminds me that every breath I take carries the memory of you.
Is it worth living if I do not live with you?
The future talks about someone else I am to love.
The future does not lie but today is more a friend to me than the future.
I just wish that the future would change how today looks like.
What if I tell the future that I much rather live only for yesterday for yesterday is more fulfilling.
Although the future may be hundred percent right, it changes not what today holds.
I am not permitted to question the future so I much rather live today with the thought of yesterday
Until I reach the future one day.

Enchanted By Beauty

Enchanted by beauty
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB

The sun fades away into the distance
The stillness of nature overwhelms me
On the quiet waters I see ripples
A reflection of the impact you have made

A soothing thought I linger
This perfect silence reveals the mystery
Perfectly crafted is your image
Along with your dazzling eyes

Your beauty amazes me
And leaves such a deep craving within
A simple glance silences all the chaos around me
So wonderful is thy beauty

I have seen beauty open up before me like a flower
But I know that the flower is not for me to keep
I wish I could have it
For the garden of my heart is empty

Though thy beauty pierces so deeply within
My heart is at peace
For as the rhythm of my drum lives inside of me
So will your image stay with me forever

Time To Let Go

Time to let go
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB
Drops of rain
Streams of moving water
Trees clothed with colour
Time for change

A thought in mind
A picture in hand
A change of heart
A choice to make

Still holding on to hope
Still feeding on yesterday
Yesterday cannot secure my tomorrow
Yesterday must become history

Every hug; every kiss
Every smile on her face
All a memory; all gone forever
Cannot hold on to yesterday

What I need is more than this love
More than a memory
More than a dream, in the night
I deserve more; you deserve more

Time to close the chapter
Time for restoration
This love has proven to be too weak
Time to let it go; forever

                                                                                                                29 January 2013

Once Upon a Story

Once upon a story
By Herold Osmond Owoseb

Is it true that it is you?
Is it true that we never knew?
My mind had forgotten but my heart has revived it
The feelings I have hidden, I now revisit

Yesterday so clear today
Cute smiles I wish were mine to take
Yesterday it was but still it remains
A love I once felt; so strong again

Words left unsaid; thoughts I could not express
Is it worth containing while love is failing?
Reminiscing on a story, of love for the fairies
Once a friend I had hoped would be more

Together and Forever

Together and forever
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB

It’s a dark starry night with the stars shinning bright
In the stillness I hear my heart speak
It searches and finds itself in need of something
My heart it longs for you

So many things I try but still my heart cannot hide how it feels
Across the oceans it is known but still I hope you really know
That my heart desires you and only you
Forever to spend, forever to share with you

Sometimes I wonder why the sun only comes my way
And the night falls on your side
But one thing remains
Something as true as my existence on this earth

My heart will go on; to love you and only you
Till the sun will shine on both of us
Together and forever we will walk, in the midst of the sand
In the land of our birth and we will sing this song till the end

I adore you; I will love you
Forever the same
Both in summer and in winter
As long as time keeps running beside me

Bended

Bended
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB

Bended, can’t be mended
Left in the cold, feeling stranded
Selfless, in need of connection
Fighting a battle with no hope or affection

                                                                                                             1 November 2013

Time

Time
BY HEROLD OSMOND OWOSEB

My name is time
I’m linked to crime
Sometimes they cry when I pass them by
At different places, I have different faces
It is amazing to see them hate me
But even when they hate me
They’re loosing pieces of me
I’m a universal genius
They even try to buy me
Sometimes I run, sometimes I walk
But if they know me well
They know that I am constant
I’m slow when they need me
And quick when they mistreat me
But as you sit and read this
You've used some pieces of me
But even when you eat me
You will never kill me
                                                                                                    1 February 2012
