Best Gumtree Poems

Premium Member An Outback Christmas

Excitement filled the bushland as December was near
Every creature had been waiting for Christmas time - all year.
Wallabies hung their stockings on a gumtree branch with care
Just as all nice children do – everywhere.

Meanwhile those more up to date logged on the internet
sending E mails to Santa to see what they could get
Koalas draped high treetops with shiny garlands green
And furry possums lined their dens in golden glitter sheen

Wallabies joined in with bright balloons hung on their tails
All the crows tied streamers, cascading from the rails.
Kookaburras’ laughter changed to Christmas songs
While magpies and peewees piped along in throngs.

A wombat and a bandicoot made honeysuckle punch
The parrots came too early and drank’ til they got drunk
And when the’ Magic Pudding’ came to help with Christmas Dinner
His taste was so delicious he left a trifle thinner.

With a Kangaroo as Santa, his pouch stuffed full of cheer
hopping ‘round the outback in the hottest time of year
Just guess what all the drovers got- lots of ice-cold beer.

The White Gumtree

And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight...	Genesis 2:9

I walk among the trees
in the afternoon with you.
See the white gum;
sunshine on the long branch is golden, but
I cannot reach it.

Like the second last note of a melody,
this tree is beautiful to me.
Do you like it too?

I will pick up the sticks it drops,
collect them in the council bin -
dry sticks,
dead.

But, the tree is living; planted
in dusty soil, on sandstone,
beside orange flowers
flaming like candles.

Can a tree possibly know
that it is gloriously lovely?
Who should I thank for this sight?

Perhaps I will be as still as these
other trees tonight,
and listen,
sh.

next summer

Do you think we could fall in love again next summer?
Like a warm breeze that swiftly moves through the seasons embracing for the cold winter ahead.
We would sit among dewy grass blades and walk along the chilled sand from a secluded beach as the moon rises.
Splash and swim around in chilly water.
Lay between wildflowers and bees in the woods somewhere, talking about everything and nothing.
Listen to the calming flow of a freshwater river buried deep in the wild mountains.
Staring up at the sky, bewildered by the emerald canopy of trees nestling us in their shade.
A sweet song serenading the climate, notes of gumtree and musk from a crackling fire hang in the air.
Birds chirping in nearby nests, the sound of children giggling and playing.
Here, beneath the warm sun rays, it dances on your skin marking soft freckles along your perfect rosy face.
Your laughter is something i will never grow weary of, as the trees grow more leaves and the cold nights melt away.
I want to feel your arms surrounding me again as the day turns into night, the sun drifts away and the sky gets darker, glittered with a million stars, so beautiful yet it could never compare to you.
I long to embrace you under those sparkly celestial bodies, once more feel your love wrapping around me, immersing me in a warm daydream.
I know it will end, all things end.
but this i would like to stay forever the same,
Because a soul like yours is worth loving.

Premium Member Gum tree

What do they wish to see,
A fleeting soul,
hanged under the Gumtree
Papers are all you know,
but never final set of eyes
blinded by faith I see glows
I bleed worse than a heresy
not who I dreamt to be.
I wish the knew & the how...
