Best Grinning Poems

Grinning

One night at my house a strange man had got in
When I asked him to leave he gave me a grin
I called the authorities who were of no use
He slipped out the back door, a man on the loose

But then he returned as soon as they'd gone
This insolent squatter, I wished he'd move on
It wasn't the first time he'd done this to me
He seemed to have picked my house quite randomly

The cops had been called there numerous times
but they treated me like the one guilty of crimes
Again and again this man just slipped away
To the local police an elusive prey

One night I decided that I'd had enough
I finally realized I had to get rough
I shot a few rounds as I aimed for his head
but somehow I missed, he just grinned and he fled

How quickly the cops had arrived at my door
They grabbed me and wrestled me down to the floor
Yet I took satisfaction in knowing I'd won
For that man in my house was now on the run

It has been quite a while, that was all in the past
My mind was at peace but it just didn't last
I'm no longer alone, for right now I can see
that strange man in my cell, and he's grinning at me

Your Grinning Dolls

Your dolls grin in my summer
melted silver plastic sin
and I heard a crow caw
all for my belated needs
I never intended life
finding my self six feet deep
My pall bearer lover-needs
me and my simple sweet soul!
All for you I oiled
your soul machine
and I am cosmic
mechanic heart
I have the skills
to fix your devour-mouth
My pall bearer sees crow caw
and I'm still six feet under
Under your high heel-career
and Versace style psychotic needs
And who (you) bury my bleedings
I keep your longest kiss under
-- neath my broken bone cap knees
and nothing hurts like my mouth.

Just Stood There Grinning

Just stood there grinning
Watching fools pass by
Being what they pretend
Hiding from own reality

Lost in false impressions
More valued than dignity
Laughing for sake's effect
Happy yet truly sad

Wrapped in plastic surroundings
Slipping up drooling slopes
Talking to hear themselves
Deaf to any answer

Hair blowing in breeze
More concerned with style
Than what lies beneath
Brain wasted by conceit

Compassion an after thought
Centered only on self
Grasping for golden rings
Worth nothing in eternity

Love just a word
Seeing loyalty as obscene
Old fashioned a joke
Material things most valued

Sneering at the elderly
Pathetically so boldly unaware
They were their past
Faces revealing mortal future

Picking and a Grinning { Bluegrass}

When we all get to Heaven
                                                 You may see me walkin'
                                              Here there everywhere
For I'm just a blue ridge mountain boy
thumbing for a ride down a lonely banjo road
With old Joe Clark livin just' two doors down from me
                                         Leaning on the everlasting arms
Of his sweet Tennessee Rose gal
                                                If teardrops were pennies
I could buy two more bottles of wine
                                                 So please Mr. Sandman
I'm crying my heart out over you
For this is all I can do
As I pick these bluegrass banjo blues
From my Tennessee Mountain home roads
                                                           That I once knew

Grinning Like a Possum

Grinning Like a Possum

By Elton Camp

The president seems to be well pleased
At the last second, victory he seized

The filthy rich will fork over more
The middle class about as before

His enemies blocked him at every turn
So this tax struggle was hard to earn

The wealthy may well fume and cuss
But there’s fewer of them than of us

Four hundred thousand is quite enough
Even paying more, it shouldn’t be tough

Perhaps they might even economize
Swap the Rolls Royce for a smaller size

So their depleted funds are better spent
With only a single mansion be content

They can still have plenty of fun
Lying about, enjoying Grey Poupon

And, according to what I see & hear,
The prez is grinning from ear-to-ear

The Enlightening Encomium of Grinning Garrick Beauregard, Or, a Sailor's Death

No towering, flowering landlocked tree
Will weep for the waning life of thee
Forgive them, friend, they never saw you smile
Forgive them, friend, they never saw you smile

To mistress maritime were you married
For her you lived, so to her be buried
Below the surface of sorrowful sin
Where above there breathe hateful, hollow men

Solar systems spin and endless seas flow
Though they are bereft your supernal glow
Forgive me, father, I can't seem to smile
Since you died, father, I can't seem to smile

The Grinning Tears That Held the Shade of Southern Suicides.

There was the capture of life somewhere inside his eyes...

We wiped away tears in the slipping of secrets, and I remembered the draw of suicide as
the shade of Southern Octobers grasped me in his glance.

He pursued me, his kiss and his smile the nets that tangled my feet up North, somewhere,
on I-95, his voice interrupted my destination and I supposed his face at midnight would be
my end, ironic, as he turned death....

upside

down.

We fed on control, that of ourselves, lost it in the snows that blanketed March, and
though I counted every one of my footprints, I only circled myself right back to him.

I never realized the nightmares that held me, the three a.m. teardrops that would stain
his perfect shoulders because my lips tasted that skin right before my last breath was
taken, in the seconds that proceeded the metamorphosis of life, and we took a turn to the
left as we discovered each other on the inside, and I felt that existing in the middle was
better...

than never

existing

at.all.

He heard me, every catch in my voice, every lost word that floated in between the curtains
that we drew for safety, he agreed in the direction of sunrise, for who was I to argue
with silence and the sleep that occurred after I broke my most famous rule?

He wanted us to be normal as laughter interrupted me, as fear grasped my throat, and I
choked on my own words as the dictionary definition of life eluded me, and for those
seconds that threw honesty away, I remembered it was yet September, we were up North, and
the surrealism of tragic Southern October nights were but the embers that burned on the
edge of his

snow-white cigarette

and the ashes of his exhalations

that scoffed impossibility at me with the hope

that the end would recall I-95

and the remembrance of his smile

at midnight.

Just They'Re Grinning

This cold night bites
They have just turned off the
lights

My head is spinning
they’re just grinning

Is this actually
real?
Tommorow will I be able to feel?

I wait and wonder and cry some
more
trying to rise from the cold floor

They could hear my body
breaking
They were just picture taking

The blood runs down my
knees
They all heard me scream please

My green eyes have now turned
black
there is no turning back

I am a paper girl
now
They should all take a bow

The Grinning Truth

Saying it— the truth;

                   it leaves my lips—

	       the truth,

                   and enters your ears—

                            the truth,

                   making me free—

                            the truth,

                   making you understand—

                            the truth,

                   creating silence with sound—

                            the truth,

                   making me grin—

                            the truth.

Premium Member Grinning At the Thought of Fingers

“Caps for sale, fifty cents a cap!”*

But that was just the crowning lie,
my pinnacle tooth should be solid gold!
Oh, if the truth could be sold -
And I feel so old…

So my crown not quite queenly,
feels unnatural, quite unseemly.
I will give it a speedy test drive
and see if it tastes like 300 bucks.

On the upside, the dentist quite merry
that I didn’t bite off any fingers,
though I hear they're quite chewy.
And he grimaces at the dreadful fear, that
I’ll take some digits and run outta there.

She strumpets all into the nights until
around her head the build-up's like fetid, gross cheese;
her lewdness makes the earth and sun stand still:
Lord! What miracle it'd be were she just a tease!
Her grinning face I loathe and never miss;
to greet her with a large and phallic pecker
delights her—but I swear to God on this:
that I felt then the extreme need to deck her
at the knowledge of her one-hundred lovers!?
Deceived by her (that wily Lolita!),
I curse then forswear her and flee for cover
vowing henceforth to shun that Medusa.
So with luck and some serendipity,
I abscond her wiles with no STD!
