Best Gilead Poems

Will you take a ride with me on an unsaddled pony,
past the dusky copper kettle glow of Gilead pond?

Two young, carefree kids wandering barefoot..
far as we can see the fields stacked in hay, our highway

The Summer sun we'll chase away to the end of days
'til the dark, moonless forest voices call.

No lightning lights Vega's face, not even your hand
catches Cassiopeia's distant glance.

Can we return one day to bottle cap mysteries untold,
down the long lost dusty finger of Birdie Galyan Road?

Balm In Gilead

Long pole rise in center of yard
Morning like a mass in Latin dictum
Vanished. Here she comes
White as the mountain robed in mist
Echoing the centuries disassembled
In the chaos memory of foreign tongue
Holding water like a psalm in her hand
And watching it break
North, South, West, and East like dawn.
She shall say a prayer for the village today
Three sounds of goat's dead skin
Vibrating life into hollow wood will tell
I hear it and shout
Cleanse me, cleanse me O, cleanse my sin
My lust for lucre filthy as the world
My celibacy separating the annoyance of the flesh
My hatred of the woman who choked my dreams
In self suffocating hands rough as broken toothed rocks
Jagging my forgiveness
And I pray she has heard it
For this nation needs a balm from its bitterness
From the constant explosion of dreams into gun fire
For the self-centered carnality of desire
For leaders who neither motivate nor aspire
Better than escape of minotaur's rage.
She comes praying for all of us like lillies
The long thread of faith
Looping from the ancestral past to light
Mother Icy, put the glass upon the pole
And dead stalks now of innocense
Flowers that you must away tomorrow
After they have shed their leaves like tears.
I too am penitent
Bathe me, bathe me deep in the bushes potion
My faith is in the Balm in Gilead.

A Balm In Gilead

There is a balm in Gilead
To every hungry soul He gives His bread.
His very own elect; He decreed be overfed (Psalm 23:5)

*Ask in my name and it will given unto you*, His words said.
For our redemption; He caused His blood to be shed.
The veil separating man from the Holy of holies; His death shred.

Seeing His wounds, the doubt in Thomas fled.
Joy and hope for a better tomorrow, His death caused to be widespread.

Meekness and true love in our hearts; His death imbed.
Upon His return; a spotless church He will wed.

How then do we taste of His power?
To find His strength to empower.
To transform His blessings from a trickle to a shower.
To experience true peace every minute and every hour.

Faith like a mustard seed, He charges us to possess.

Our doubting minds; we are called to suppress.
Unyielding belief in God's power to do all things; we must profess.

Actions of faith that leave the world bewildered; we are called to express.

For against the laws of nature; the results of faith transgress.
Like Peter, we must stay focused on Christ to avoid any distress.

The treasures of heaven; faith gives the key to access.
And on the path of fulfilling life purpose; faith propels towards progress.

With these principles in application,
A constant reminder of His promises in supplication.
A strict avoidance of altercations and capitulation,

There would be an acceleration towards affirmation.
Thus ushering in a joyous celebration.
And a lifting up of our hands in adoration.

Balm In Gilead

Dear God
In the sundry scatterness of truth
And the sultry pillage of the brute
Bind me up again
In swaddling rags
And burial ointment for the pain.

For through death
I shall approach my birth
Better than a resurrection
Of lilies
From the immortal bulb
Of only faith
Dear God
Let me be consumed in you.

God and Balm of Gilead

when with God are in doubt
of Him poems will be about
how He can help us out

when with God have been
He will always let us in
free from all sin

when God is in each Psalm
makes us peaceful and calm
fill us with His balm

Balm of Gilead

when God will be pure
has helped us to sins endure
for COVID is the cure

when God is so great
all our sins will consummate
while we celebrate

when God is Who we need
from sins we want to be freed
Bible have to read

when we are a racist
God removed us from His list
when we will persist

when God is our Friend
free us from sins does intend
never will offend

when God will stand tall
we can always hear His call
never will appall

When God said sinners support
always end up in His court
when truth we do distort

when God is with me
His Holy Son soon will see
better world will be

when God plants His seed
exactly is what we need
with us He agreed

when His food will eat
God will want to meet and greet
Son will wash oUr feet

When in sun God will bask
better do what He does ask
down to the last task

when God a Bible sent
will tell us what He has meant
giving us His consent

when with God do live
from all our sins will forgive
in Him we believe

How is that for starters?
Do what you want and
need to do with my
poems as you see fit.
Read them and never quit
All your sins admit
down to the last bit.

Need to start a place in newspaper
which will support religious ideas
like my poems do. Whenever you
want to give me a subject, thought
or idea to write a poem about. We
even need a class about poetry and
how rhyming will comfort our soul.

Balm in Gilead

There is balm in Gilead; there is balm for my soul
In the streams of the Jordan broken spirits are made whole
There are streams in the desert land that give healing within
And whoe’er tastes these streams of grace shall never thirst again

There’s a place where He pours out His grace upon the needy heart
Where at last things become complete yet suddenly things start
We can sing and hide beneath His wing, protected from all harms
There the Good Shepherd graciously shall bear us in His arms

There’s a mount in Canaan’s land; there’s a cleft in the stone
There’s a place where the wand’ring heart can fin’ly feel at home
There is rest in the Savior’s arms; there is rest for my soul
There is dear love and freedom ‘neath His yoke and His control

There’s a fount that springs from Zion’s mount that can cleanse us from sin
See the gates of the city opened wide to let us in
To the Son’s sweet goodness we shall run—to His unending store
In the house of our Savior we shall flourish evermore
