Footprints in Carbon

The village was nestled on the coast by itself, as if God had put it there all alone, on a shelf.

The residents were isolated just like the town, and universally uninformed from the top on down.

It was no longer a lavish seaside resort, gone were the badminton and racquetball courts.

It was a mere shell of its former glory and wonder, as if a great storm had come and tore it asunder.

And in the village an old man remembered when he was a boy,

how he played with wooden sticks, Lincoln logs, tinker toys.

Then came toys made of plastic so shiny and new.

There were so many you could tear one up, and replace it with two.

And that was just the tip of an iceberg of stuff

that has grown bigger and bigger cause it's never enough.

When the little boy grew up he bought his first car

that could outrun the men who wore the tin stars.

He was hooked on the speed and the style and the flash.

What a bargain he thought to get so much for so little cash.

Back then very few cared if cars damaged the planet;

they were fast, looked good and were a great chick magnet!

Soon the young man got married and in the blink of an eye,

the grandkids have him thinking about that uneven sky.

The one that lets too many sun's rays come in.

the one that has worn the polar ice sheets too thin

The one that won't let him leave this earth as he found it,

with food and water for all and God's halo around it.

Now he worries and frets, what can one person do,

that could make any difference in this environmental snafu?

Then a light bulb came on in his troubled mind.

I will get the ball rolling and lots of people will follow and find,

that the earth is too fragile to treat just any old way,

then maybe, just maybe the whole village will make everyday Earth Day.

Why is Jack so Happy

I have many questions
I want to ask you Jack
I'll place them in a poem
In hopes you'll answer back

Why are you so happy?
We're all dieing to know
It seem so unnatural
Where did your sadness go?

Is it something you smoke
from your own special pipe?
Or are you just really
a happy go lucky type?

These are all my questions
I hope you don't hold back
Give me all your answers
While I go prepare a snack

It was suggested that jack and I do a poem together, I thought I would
get the ball rolling. Thanks for the idea Shaz, curious where it will lead.

coming attraction

president hope & change grows more corrupt to the
core,
as most figureheads do when they are fed a few more
years of
power &
with his hope & change comes
the new BRAIN Initiative,
whose puppet master,
the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA),
paints a pretty picture for the public,
saying that the Department of Defense will be able to
simply scan the brains of suspected terrorists,
instead of torturing them,
in order to get what information they want
so that we will all be
“protected.”

are you looking forward to having your own brain
scanned?
are you looking forward to being dragged in by the cops
who found you with the drones,
that will use the new brain scanning technology
that slid neath’ the public radar
with dreams of “curing brain disorders like autism,
epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, schizophrenia and
Alzheimer’s?”

to congress president hope & change goes,
to get the $100 million,
to get the ball rolling,
to ensure that as this empire continues to decline &
the gap between the rich & the poor continues to
grow,
that there will be yet another way to **** with those
who haven’t got a thing---
to the podium he goes
to be a good lil’ puppet,
to do the bidding of those who paid his way,
just like he said he would.

(the thought police are coming)

Play Misty for Me

Hello there, beautiful woman behind the piano. Would you please play a melody I’m sure you know? To this crowd here tonight, I’m in the mood to sing. The lyrics I convey should have a familiar ring. With this bourbon and soda, I cannot drown my sorrow. I want to describe how I feel. Let’s give it a go. I have to tell you that my lady and I are through. Her departure from the scene has made me so blue. Alas, my partner has proven to be untrue. You are so marvelously talented at what you do. Let your dexterous fingers glide across each key. We will get the ball rolling with the familiar tune “Misty”.

You sure have nothing better to do at the moment
Let us have fun with Dorian's limericks.

Twiddle My Thumbs and Tap My Toes

Attention's gone
Doesn't seem like there's anything going on.

Sitting around
Trying to find something to fill this time I've found.

Frustrations show
I could've been more productive today, I know.

But instead
I think I'll spend the rest of the day in bed.

Who needs motivation when there's nothing else to do?

Where's the inspiration when there's nothing driving you?

I guess the lack of time my friend, is really not the issue.
It's figuring how to get the ball rolling to get to the things that will ensue.

In the midst of boredom; I'm in its throes
I'll twiddle my fingers and tap my toes

Lion with a dark mane

Lion with a dark mane, bark flames
Before I was a monarch
I was a caterpillar without any wings
Lion with a dark mane, bark flames
Pain in the picture outside it rains
You don’t get the picture it’s not
filling up the frame

Lion with a dark mane, bark flames
Ready to eat, raw as it came
Not a fisaud gnawed out the cage
Weight on my shoulders
I guess its all on my legs

Hills looking steep, look back
I can face any challenge given to me
Given a cue giving it one hundred
and three
To get the ball rolling
Off the Tee I give it a swing
It was at two at the end I came
around made it a three
Started nonchalant nature made
him a freak
Off the chart in what position can
he be
Skills so high now stars gazing at me
Wave as I leave
Faced and believed if I swim that its
safe in the sea

Lion with a dark mane, bark flames
Before I was a monarch
I was a caterpillar without any wings
Lion with a dark mane, bark flames
Pain in the picture outside it rains
You don’t get the picture it’s not
filling up the frame
