I'd rather have a back seat in heaven
than a front seat in hell.
I'd rather know Jesus
than in a mansion dwell.
When this life is over
and judgement day is here,
when the Lamb's book is opened
my name I want to hear.
This life on earth is troubling
with the devil running free.
Following God is not as simple
as it used to be.
New trials and temptations
we face every day,
but they will all be over
when Jesus comes to stay.
On that great judgement morning
when my Savior returns,
I'll be on my way to heaven
while this sinful world burns.
Upon my chanced and borrowed soul,
awaits my sins for Judgement day.
For when it is I meet my end,
I'll stand alone before His eyes.
Awaits my sins, for Judgement day,
no one else may plead my case.
I'll stand alone before His eyes,
as my sins are read aloud.
No one else may plead my case,
I place myself to His compassion.
As my sins are read aloud
and with His touch upon my heart.
I place myself to His compassion,
hoping my sins are forgiven.
And with His touch upon my heart,
I pray a lightness does invade.
Hoping my sins are forgiven.
For when it is I meet my end,
I pray a lightness does invade.
upon my chanced and borrowed soul.
