Where the Wind Blows

The Waxing Moon and the Wind

The winter wind tears at the throat of night
like a fair weather friend.
Once, breeze born seeds had nourished
the ripe soil of summer's joining,
alliances of water, wind, earth and fire
which formed from heart source,
now ravaged by competition.
Howls of blood lust wreak havoc
on the weakening darkness, the pack hunts,
reveling in the hoar frost and the sharp
hump of gibbous moon in the eastern sky.
Each rattle of shutter brings hope to the
onslaught of gale searching to claim
the lead and lead…
to find a chink in the human armor
of hearth, home and family.
Yet, though the wind has might,
the heart fire burns bright and in this warm
light true friendship can be born,
for there is no beauty in the gnashing of teeth
and rending of nascent flesh.
May the wind mellow and once again
carry the seeds of Spring, new life, new art,
and upon the rack of Godly hart.

FAIR WEATHER FRIEND

     FAIR WEATHER FRIEND
Together we should sail uncharted sea
so if our ship is dashed on rocky slate,
we have no fear, but know that one of we
remains afloat, to save us from our fate!

and I would have you tredging at my side
if where I go is dark, through jungles deep,
so I'll be confident, although implied,
and not to worry much, when I should sleep;

But when I'm home, my fond and greatest need
is just to not be bothered by your kind
if you are diff'rent than what's from my seed,
then I'd not have you there, for me to find.

So if my sails are set where charts have shown
you sail your way, and I will sail mine own!

I Feel Better Already

March has just begun, yet already I tread its muddy waters
I hope, before it ends, I'll feel some ease; that's all that matters
Sometimes, unexpectedly, stress in one day gets to be alarming!
At every turn, so many buttons pressed, can be so annoying!
As for my Uncle Sam, it seems, I can never give him enough
I swear, we may need a ‘Robin Hood’ right here in this 'trough'
Banks keep my few dollars, and use it at will... for free
Then turn around and charge me for that, plus ...their keep
Heard from a “Fair weather” friend who only calls when in need
And sadly, my Parish Priest, always busy, couldn't hear my personal grief
No, not when my time conflicted with his board meet!
That new neighbor, the loud one, has become a “pain in the butt”
He never considers that others maybe sleeping, after hours in a 'rut'
Again, there were 'grown ups' who were fighting at a kids’ ball game
Displaying madness in the presence of watchful children...so insane!
Oh, not to forget, the driver who assumed he always has the right of way
Who after he turned, casually waived his hand, as if playing charades!
Enough said! I feel better already..now that I’ve had my say!

My brother Ray

Today was his special day
Till just a year ago he was taken away
Only God knows the reason he called him home
Leaving all of us missing him so.

My brother Ray was a special young man
Who anyone who knew him could call him friend.
His harsh demeanor was bristling and gruff
You always knew how he felt, when he'd had enough.

He'd let you know with his big booming voice
To hear it once more would be such a joy.
He loved his family, his coworkers his friends
They knew his loyalty was good to the end.

For no fair weather friend could he ever be called
If he loved you and cared he could not be swayed at all
For his love and his loyalty were always true
He wore his feelings on his sleeves and he'd share them with you.

He had a huge and jocular laugh, infectious too.
If you laughed with him, he'd laugh with you
For no one alive had a better sense of humour
Made us all honored to call him our favorite brother.

Now as the sun sets down gloriously this day.
We know it's because of a brother named Ray.
He lives up in Heaven as he did here with us.
Shining his smile upon us and all of his love.

Wrapping us all in his big arms to his chest
He is telling us all to keep doing our best.
To keep making him proud in our thoughts and deeds
And he will see us all when in Heaven we meet.

Fair Weather Friend

The suns shining, no need to worry I know you'll call me
the rides been fun, the stories epic
yeah, nothing but a good time..when times are good
fair weather friends

the liquid stays flowing
 slurred words are understood
we're like family, straight up brother sisterhood
I got your back....but who's got mine
fair weather friends

Now, I don't mean to bother
but first you're sweet and then your sour
I hear stories changing
your tripping over words
it happens every time when hard times push out the good
the sun is gone, yeah and so are you
must be a storm moving in
fair weather friends

there's nothing like a fair weather friend
yeah, your fake..
there's nothing like a fair weather friend
yeah, where the hell are you
nothing but a fake
yeah, you're my fair weather friend

A Fair Weather Friend is No Friend At All

The words your eyes speak
Cover ground your lips will never travel
You call me equal, call me friend
But your eyes, they say you lie
They show me your disgust, your ridicule
You will never have respect for another but yourself
And never me, never me
So inferior to you I am
Lesser in every way, to you
Not pretty enough to love and not a man
These alone the reasons of your despise

Real Friends :: you jump i jump

A Real Friend gives a damn if they see there friends
suffering at the hands of fecal matter
When I see your pain I relate cant you see
I am being weakened as I try to make you feel better
and you choose to be loyal to your terrorist
You became my fair weather friend
I should have just let you fall off the cliff and worried
about my sanity instead our souls both suffered as I try
to hold up your head but who is there to uplift me and to
hear you ask me not to say unkind things
about her still really sickens me

Fair Weather Friend

Fair weather friend,
Thou art a beguiling trench
So deep your carvings burrow
That the gorge, like a ghost's cravenly respite,
Stares at my face every morn and night,
And I, a childless brazen woman,
Wander along the narrow path of servility
Of fear and pain,
And the nuances of passion
Has desiccated my body
To a state of apathy
That is forever succumbing
To what is known as the murderer of happiness.

New year's resolutions - angler's ambitions

A happy new year needs a new resolution
To sort out my lifestyle - to find a solution
I'll stop fishing each day - from dawn until dusk
I should be proactive - not follow blind luck

I'll train a new workforce to catch more and more fish
A new angle on angling towards my new wish
I'll start a fish stall at the town's fishing market
And set my own quota to meet my fish target

I'll swap my old rod for an old fishing boat
For more and more fishing to keep us afloat
Then take a fair loan from a fair weather friend
A fleet of fish trawlers - expand and extend

I'll promote my fish brand with fish fingers and toes
Fish knees and fish eyebrows, fish legs and elbows
And market a franchise to build a store chain
Of shops inside shop malls to make a large gain

And when I am richer I'll hold a big auction
To sell my big business to make a big fortune
I'll buy a big mansion next to a big lake
And go back to fishing - my passion - my ache

Entry to "new year's resolution" contest - written "subconsciously" as required (honest!)

Written 1st January 2017 - not coincidentally!

Judas Kiss

everything you’ve said
 whispers round to me
   here now I sit
    this warning is free
dead are my dreams
 in your pretense of care
  sweeping the misery
    as you reek of despair
A fair weather friend
 in the mirror narcissus
  your lies pave roads
   a consummate actress
I have begun to believe
 ricin flows in your veins
  everything you touch
   weeps of black stains
all poison you leach
 flows right back to me
  and as I found out
   I raged disbelief
a roaring rant
 told them they lied
  here as I weep
   the truth will not die
to my face you smile
 as fangs stroke my hair
  coaxing and pleading
   pretension webs there
a black widow spider
 masked in mortal garb
  the spear of your words
broke my skin like a barb
through the weather of life
in the course of the rain
  I have measured my life
in the blood of the pain
A beaker of misery
 I add to the pot
  from friend to foe
   this cant be forgot
I’ve come to tell you
 you’ve been mistaken
  for my spirit breathes
   and is not forsaken
see I maybe down
 but honey not out
  you watch your back
when I come I wont shout
as the Chinese whispers
 you’ve spread about me
  in this river of hate
   my agony is freed
revenge is served cold
 is something I’ve heard
but the blood of a mongol
pumps the heart of this bird
so watch through the night
keep your ear to the dark
  that scratch in the wall
   carries more than a bark
from wretch to the wrath
 I have now become
  you killed all the light
in the heart of my sun

Lucid Thoughts

I am my own worse critic,
to question my own choices,
to tell me right from wrong,
no rough draft to my life.

Mind me not-
weary mind,
being the fair weather friend-
rather sickening...

Fighting amongst ourselves, hatred rising,
thoughts racing,
deciphering the moral,
of my soon to be regrets...

This abyss...
this life-
so fragile,
why built to understand?

What perception,
just leads-
to deception.

Why cursed mind!

Doubt-
no longer,
I am the master.

ALWAYS IN THE WINDOW

 ALWAYS IN THE WINDOW

Child gazing longing in toyshop window
Learns to stop wanting and simply pretend,
Like watching queen a smile bestow
Or leaning on fair-weather friend.

Constantly holding back her promise
She seems to move ‘cross starry sky.
Smiles she through my dreams in darkness
And dims the sun at noonday high.

In the loneliness of childhood
I gazed at her by clear night:
My hope not changed, not understood -
Enchantment through the window bright.

In the crowded years of older age
At her beauty I’m lost for speech:
She yet continues to engage
But always too far out of reach.

So far away, too strange to reach.
In  deafened glass I hear no message;
My face can touch her hand; but each
One real - or simply longing image?

Caught In the Headlight

So silly of you to think you had me trapped
into a corner with your endless arguments,
an innocent fawn caught in the headlight.

Hey, don’t tell me things that I already know
for there’s nothing you say that is really new,
your posturing can’t hide what little you knew.

Caught in your own headlight, oh no!
      caught in the headlight, yes, you are;
admitting defeat just ain’t your style
though you are grasping at straws.

Your insecurity astounds me, you wicked man,
going nuts that I own what you have not got,
you are primed for the nearest garbage lot.

You stick like a leech when you want something
then switch gear when you feel you have it going,
I’m through with your music, fair-weather friend.

You’re crazy to think I can’t make it without you,
truth to tell, you need me more than I need you,
you don’t really know me that well, or do you?

Get the hell out of my life now, do you hear?
getting rid of you now is the least I can do,
the thought of you makes me boil all over.

I felt. ( written in 1989.)

Hello my fair weather friend,
  nice to see you again.
Lost the gleam in my eye,
  felt my soul had died.
Felt my anger turn to rage,
Felt I was once again in a cage.
Felt my heart get torn in two,
And around me was no you.
I wanted to run and hide,
   Instead sat alone and cried.
I felt no power in my hands,
Felt as if I was sinking in the sand.
I shaded my eyes from the bright sun,
  And spoke to no one.
Then you fell,
To you I have so much to tell.
I know you`ll only stay a while,
but my friend you made me smile.
I know I will fill you on your next passing,
For my love of rain is ever lasting.

Cliches Away

Three sheets in the wind
And rubbed the wrong way
By a fair weather friend
You must seize the day

Let your hair down
And lay down the law
Be the talk of the town
With your last hurrah

With all your high hopes
Few and far in between
Up against the ropes
Taking one for the team

Play your cards right
No guts no glory
Still High as a kite
The same old story

Jungle Flower

People say they care when they don't really care at all,
But it sounds good and by saying so, they don't feel as small.
People tend to say what will serve themselves the best,
Hoping they won't be called upon to prove by any test.

People like to say lots of stuff they don't really mean,
They're simply performing so with favour they'll be seen.
To keep up appearances they make sure they appear
Like they are wonderful and caring as well as sincere.

Oh, all the fake personas out there, especially on the 'Net,
Who profess they Love and care, and you, they never will forget,
But as soon as your presence isn't as much as it used to be,
They'll forget you exist along with what they claimed emphatically.

Real is real. Truth is truth. Both are constant and consistent,
And so this goes with people, true friendship is persistent.
Fair weather friends shine on sunny days when there's no rain,
But true friends keep shining through in storminess and pain.

The 'Net is like a jungle, tough to get through,
All so overgrown, at times, treacherous too,
But ever so often we are blessed to find
A flower in the thicket of the rarest kind.

This flower we can add to the garden in our heart,
Knowing its beauty will remain, always be a part,
Of who we are today and in all our days ahead,
Always adding beauty uniquely in our flower bed.

Then, as for those who are plastic and pretend,
They matter not as a fair weather friend.
Only those who shine when our skies are grey
Are the flowers we must cherish each and every day.

Their presence may be obscured when from our eyes we see,
But their fragrance and their beauty in our heart will always be.
A Jungle Flower is a treasure, indeed, a miracle to find
Amongst the jungle of the 'Net so often fake and unkind.

In Untertain Times

we are living in uncertain times
a fair weather friend a nursery rhyme
eye taunt to the fabric of the lens
let's learn to depend

history tends to repeat itself
left us wandering in a swift brigade
soft parade
in uncertain times

columns of fire
quenched for your burden of desire
