Best Entertains Poems
The whip-poor-will entertains.
His song crisp and fresh today
His voice is not inhumane.
And leads my few thoughts astray.
Running was the Bovidae
Outside my open window.
So, I could hear faraway
Dance of the painted pinto.
Just for fun, no there was no Bovidae nor painted pinto.

My blue hair women paintings are surprisingly fun,
But the most interesting are my blue black haired combo.
I know this because I am staring at them now.
Pony-tailed, hatted, hanging, one doing the mambo.
I always thought the pink hairs would be the most “ut”.
My pink cats and dragons have them completely topped.
If I counted all the flowers and hearts on my walk.
I would laugh at my ludicrous self, that I could have never stopped.
Painting has been a most enjoyable hobby to me.
It has kept me out of relatives’ squabbles galore.
Entertaining me in every which way and wild.
Keeping me away from cleaning which I truly abhor.
Moonbeams come
through the glass in the room,
and shine on this candle lit sight;
Carolina Jasmine is in full bloom,
and kerosene lights the night.
The Whigs...debate politics,
while two men play at chess.
I entertain...them tonight,
as I am divinely...dressed.
But then his hand brushes mine,
he's Abraham Lincoln.
No money at all, and ambitions,
some...say he'll never see,
but he and the sharp mind
that he has, is exactly...
what I seek.

Mother’s Day! The excitement mounts.
I let my children off the hook.
Don’t come. Don’t call. Don’t text. Don’t bother me.
Yes, it is Mother’s Day weekend but
I have a full time planned, writing poetry, playing word games, painting my canvases.
I let my children enjoy their day.
They also can play whatever they want.
Feeling no guilt for not entertaining me
For you see, no one entertains me like I do.
And if they do not come, I can stay in my fluffy zebra pajamas all day.
I can take naps if I want.
I can lie down and retain what little health I have left.
I have been terribly sick. I might die today. I am an old woman.
Old women die, right? All I want is clear lungs today. Not company.
And frankly, no one entertains me half as well as I entertain myself.
