Best Cowboy Westernwords Poems
Spending a lifetime on the Texas Panhandle prairies in and around Amarillo
exposes a feller to a unique life style.
As a youngster and continuing into early manhood, I flirted with the aggregation
of words to captivate the attention of any audience that would listen; whether that audience
was a girl, the guy’s, or just whomever would listen. To be honest though, mostly just to
gather attention.
To lasso words with a pen, corral them within the confines of a margin, and brand
them for my own is a thought that just came to me within the past couple of years. Though I
was exposed to Cowboy Poetry my entire life, the honored title of a Cowboy Poet was for
some of my close friends and others, but not a title I considered for myself.
Since making the decision to become a Cowboy Poet, I have performed my own
original poetry from Eastern Tennessee, through-out Texas, up through Illinois, across to
Idaho, down through Utah to Southern California, and many, many point’s in-between.
I’ve been honored to accept many awards from the International Library of
Poetry, the International Society of Poets, the American Poets Society just to name a few. I
have some of my works published in books, on CD’s, in magazines, newspapers, newsletters
and of course many websites.

a cowboy came riding,
with love in his heart,
coming to town,
with a gun in his hand.
he wants to protect you,
from all other men,
shooting till no man
says bad words again,
yes he loves you,
yes its true,
never leave you,
and will always defend,
the morning is breaking,
and its near dawn,
all guns are holsterd
till time to drew,
shooting away,
firing at will,
his heart is rushing,
in case he gets killed,
his love he will die for,
to pretected her till end,
no man will trouble
or they will be dead,
riding from town,
on his big black horse.
someone shot him,
his words are not forgot,
yes he loves you,
yes its true,
wanted to protect you
from all evil to,
now i am leaving,
lay down my guns,
as the battle is over
for you my love,
took out the bandits,
no more will they threat,
i shot them all
and now they are dead,
living your life,
as you mean to go on,
never forget me,
now the war i won,
yes i love you,
yes its true,
always be near you,
even tho i am dead,
am a gunslinger angel
to serve you my dear,
no matter whats near you,
i am always here,
yes i love you,
yes its true,
am a gunslinger angel
always here for you,
drifting in no land,
with my gun in my hand,
standing for order
as im your angel cowboy man,,
I am a simple country girl
And married to my own cowboy.
He likes to sweep me off my feet
And shout "Yee Ha". He is my joy.
His grammar's not all that it should be.
He is truly my "diamond in the rough",
But when he whispers in my ear
The words don't matter, the love's enough.
He often brings me in a rose,
Picked from my own small garden patch.
He bows and gives it with such dash,
You'd get the giggles just to watch.
He brings out his beloved guitar
And woos me with his cowboy songs.
I listen to the words he sings
And know just where my heart belongs.
