Best Carissa Poems
I know what it feels like to be adored beyond compare.
To be loved unconditionally just for being myself.
To have that special one want to be just like me.
I am told how wonderful I am each day,
How beautiful and loving, as I am smothered with hugs
And kisses and artwork from my little master artist.
She treasures every compliment I give her and dances
To entertain me by the songs from my music box.
A grande jeté here, a pirouette there, thrills me with delight.
I love you hearts hang on my walls along with pictures
Drawn especially for me in bright colors she knows I love.
I hear my words come from her sweet little mouth...
"Oh for Pete's sake" or "For crying in the bucket" and I laugh
More at myself than from her trying to emulate my silly self.
Her endless devotion touches my heart so deeply that I
Bless her and pray for her safety day and night, and give thanks
To the Lord for blessing me with the precious gift of her birth.
This little 37 pound, long chestnut haired beauty is mine to adore
As she adores me, and tells me she is so happy I am her Grammy.
I am rich beyond belief, and blessed by all that is holy to have her love.

The ocean reflected by azure skies
glistens in deeper salubrious shades
enchanting me in a mesmerizing gaze
as the waves heave high and low,
undulating currents courses
distilled into my blue eyes,
giving them a blue sea shade.
A windswept chill recalls many
cold blue lips of drowned bodies
on ships and vessels wrecked at sea.
Blue songs sung to mourn their loss.
Somber souls in sorrow coping,
hoping to lay their loved ones to rest.
Cobalt blue on stained glass windows
in the consecrated Christ’s cathedral
illuminates its mourners in shards of blue.
Officers in blue livery offer reverent respect
at gravesites with flowers in hues of blue.
As twilight’s victory overtakes the sun
shadows fall in somber shades of blue.

Forget that first glimpse of the tower of Pisa.
The glorious colorful tulips in their beds at
Keukenhoff Gardens in springtime.
The Eiffel tower blinking in the darkness.
The Grand Canyon gilded at sunset.
The wandering mist from the power and
thunder of Niagara Falls.
The magic in the sails of Sydney's
Opera House on the harbor.
The bright beauty of Tokyo city lights.
Disney World and all its sights.
Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria's green hills.
Views from Seattle's Space Needle, day or night.
How the cool smooth metal of the towering
St. Louis Arch changes color with the sun.
Atlanta's pride in her Stone Mountain carving.
Forget the impressive beauty of the
Statue of Liberty on her own tiny island.
The thrill of traveling the everglades by air-boat,
Hong Kong's breathtaking skyline.
Enjoying Auckland's shoreline by horseback.
An enchanted river cruise down the Thames.
The awesome art museums each city offers.
Ancient Irish castles and countryside cottages.
The music and lights of San Antonio's riverwalk.
Marveling at the golden gate bridge swaying in the wind.
The warm aqua Hawaiian Surf and pearl white sands.
I now have my greatest sight. . .
Those button shaped ebony eyes that twinkle
Those cute little chubby cheeks and
A smile that lights the heavens.

and more, yet they can't hold a candle to my g. children Carissa or Brody.

I was blessed to give birth
To my sweet little girl.
I kissed your fingers and
Toes and cute little nose.
I rocked you and sang
And wiped your tears,
I held you and loved you
All your young years.
Now You're a Mother
And a fine Mother too.
I'm again blessed to help
raise your daughter with you!

I wrote this for my daughter, Michelle, who gifted
me with my 2 and half month old granddaughter
Carissa who I care for while my daughter works.

Oh brightest twinkling star
Stationary as you are...
Watching seasons change
As they slowly rearrange
From winter's snowy birth
Whitening most of earth,
To see sweet flowers sing
With the breath of spring,
Into heat of summer's sun
Where cooling rivers run,
Until the bright hued trees
Lose their lovely leaves.
You watch it all from afar...
My beautiful twinkling star.

*Note: I wrote this for my 3 and a half year old granddaughter, Carissa, who enjoys poetry. I want to encourage that! I will explain to her that stars only seem to be stationary.

Even at the age of three years old
her eyes held promise of a poetic
soul in her amazing observations;
in her delighted exclamations of
the wonders of nature, astounding
her grandmother by saying "OMG, look
how the water sparkles in the creek!"

As I watch you sleep
It reminds me of what I cannot lay claim to
A past long forgotten in the deepest recess of my mind
A Peace so profound I could not fathom
I strive so hard to remember how it felt
I struggled for a glimpse of the childhood long lost
But all I can come up with is dust.
As I watch you stretch your pudgy hand
I tried to recollect what being a baby is like
I struggled for the glimpse of the childhood long lost
But memory failed me
Your cute grunt warms my heart
Your tiny face expressive even in your sleep,
Gives me the purest joy.
As I watch you sleep
I ponder the world you inhabit
Who really can know the world you inhabit
Who knows the dream you dreamt
My cute baby, the world I promise you not
But a beautiful life is God’s promise
My tiny cute bundle of joy,
As I watch you sleep,
With all the cry and grunts,
The sleepless night taunts
The constant diaper changing,
I will never trade my little buddle,
Sleep tight, my daughter Carissa and let me
Watch your face my little bundle
