Borneo's Green Heart

A gem of a nation
An abode of peace
A treasure of empire
A haven of tranquility
A kingdom of treasures
An oasis of modern empire
A space of warmth greeting
A den of hospitable people
A neoclassical form of politics
A gateway to beyond comports
An avenue of understanding
An environment of treasures
An ancient Sultanate kingdom
An indeed pampering Brunei Darussalam

A Planet of Pain

Kids dying for diamonds in Sierra Leone,
Innocent civilians killed in Iraq’s warzone.
Indigenous tribes removed from their lands,
Children in the Congo losing legs and hands.
Arms companies still supplying while civilians are dying,
Kids begging on the street while the rich keep buying.
Sex slaves sold, countless stories untold,
So much unnecessary hate in a world that’s so cold.
Shameful, disgraceful racism in South Carolina,
Tens of thousands of baby girls abandoned each year in China.
Discrimination will never disappear, it will always be here,
Numerous Pakistani and Somalian women constantly living in fear.
Diarrheal diseases in Bangladesh, killing over a hundred thousand children each year,
While Libya continues torturing citizens for drinking a beer.
Botswana and Swaziland infested in HIV/AIDS,
In the Central African Republic a Coca-Cola cost more than grenades.
War hysteria in Syria, Kidnapping cases in Nigeria,
Human rights violations in all parts of Algeria.
Endangered tribes in the amazon crying for help but nothing is been done,
And when’s the last time a child in a Brazilian favela had any fun?
Corruption levels in Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe remain at an all-time high,
Shocking and Inhumane laws condemned by the government of Brunei.
Genocide in Darfur, millions dead from starvation in North Korea,
The US military has ruined beautiful Diego Garcia.
Chocolate child slaves whipped for working too slow in the Ivory Coast,
And celebrating thanksgiving is nothing but a genocidal toast.
Poverty is everyone’s responsibility, and it continues to increase,
A violent environment, that’s allergic to peace.

You Are Who You Are

You Are Who You Are
(Dedicated to all students in Brunei)

You are who you are- a unique creature.
All men are your brothers but you’re different and rare.
None that came before, none that lives today,
nor one that lives tomorrow would ever be like you.

You are a unique rarity of nature’s creation,
an end product of changes through years of evolution.
So you’re well-equipped in both body and mind,
as any other creatures, emperors and wise men.

Within you burns a flame of discontent,
raging so fiercely for years and generations.
It scorches your spirit, a constant irritation-
an eagerness to be better, as you journey on.

You have unlimited potential that should be put to use,
lest it will rot and die, stagnate and run dry.
You should achieve more, much more than you’ve done,
and not indulge in self-praise for achievement not grand.

Struggle may not be easy, thorns may come your way.
But they’re chances in disguise, hold on ‘till you’re free.
Nature knows no defeat and so should you,
victorious you’ll emerge as you persist and wait.

Into a mountain you’ll grow not shrink into a mound,
by straining your potential until success is found.
Yes, you’ll be the greatest, the greatest of all,
‘cause you’re not born by chance, that’s what
you’re here for.

In seeming innocence you lie in the warm ochre
in the center of a dust-kicked street,
a remnant of larger issues	crushed to just the right size
	 by killing blows.

Before the mob merged before catcalls
raised the hairs on the back of your neck,
you had been of a favorite pet a cherished wife.

A wife and mother now lies dead	brought down by
the bloodlust
	of the men around her.

Today, the stones are coated rust-red with her blood
as another women of Iraq is laid low by the men who own them
husbands sons and fathers.

*Stoning is called Rajm in Islamic literature, and a practice found in United Arab Emirates, Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Northern Nigeria, Aceh in Indonesia, Brunei, and Pakistan. Stoning is part & parcel of patriarchal societies.

Ivory

They each have a yellow extension,
Sure there is much more to mention,
Each is known to do a lot to protect,
Neither is known to get much respect.

The Helmeted Hornbill lives in the trees,
Watch out because they might have fleas,
Now the other is on an ice hockey team,
And uses a yellow stick to help fulfill his dream.

As the bird uses it’s beak as a weight,
I doubt very much the player is ever late,
While we watch the bird fly and glide,
It has been great having him on our side,

They both were born in Brunei,
Watch out for the bird in the sky,
Both care very much for their mates,
Wonder if the wife can stay up on skates?

God Save Nepal

My heart goes to them
To our brethren in Kathmandu
God save them
And their country
You are all in our praying time
In the history of Sulu archipelago
And Brunei they are the hero
They are good people and loyal too.

.
I love you Nepal. Let's sail together. Layag Sug!

From My Roof Top

FROM MY ROOF TOP

From my roof top I see the world crumbles
I saw people of mine shout, endlessly
They shout for two common things
They shout for these two alone
Prosperity and democracy
They want an answer and their voices heard
But they were denied, all
An tears run down my cheek for them.

All these while two things are denied them
Just through the face masks of poli-sticks
So the country goes gaga
My country crumbles and crumbles fast
Faster than its expiry date comes
Two things are denied it as a cause
The suddenly, A man came panting
The power-man has come to shut us up.

He wears a coat too big yet very tight
To strangle our wriggling voices
'Go home, go home' I heard him shout
But he only rained saliva and a chewy gum
As I laugh, the riot explodes
Police, police, gendarme
Then blows and bloods
Bullets and batons.

Empty fists and stifled voices
There was a heightened battle to crumble a regime
So Mr. President answer me
Why poverty is now riding the economic horse
You alone jolly riding everywhere
For these decades you planted none, a seed
Your monarchy has divorced our democracy
Therefore go home, go home, too.

Yesterday your eyes were like those of an Angel
And you gaze upon us with mercy, passion, we all
Now your eyes beams of the Sun, Satan
Jesus! dear creator's messenger
Beg on our behalf, do it now
We plead your father, our grand, comes early to our rescue
To warn the world, of its bad nuts
Before it stands out against them.

We have started our calls, our shouts, our protests
From Tunisia to Egypt
Yemen to Syria
Brunei to Georgia
Here we come, to demand our pound of flesh
That, that has been taken from our toils
This day, not waiting, straight for it, now
From where they are, hidden.

The roof tops of powers
As I watch them from my roof top here.....

No greater injustice than this:

To condemn people to death, just for tender acts of love,

While

Rewarding others, for committing barbarous acts in war! *

Other countries that have similar laws are : Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan Mauritania and parts of Nigeria and Somalia according to BBC. There are currently 70 counties that criminalize same sex relations says ILGA!

The Ships Have Set Sail

Silently waiting amidst the full moon's sink'd smile,
Farfetch’d upon the grazing winds of steeping mountains,
Seemingly dead eyes, tear’d and wash’d and wash’d,
Flow of glaciers and broken crevasse - a sacred fig, lost?
No. yellow clouds; damn’d of darkness and stemm’d from beyond,
Of ye ol’ doubts and fears - so they say.

L’air is picking up - sails liberated from infinite prisons,
Ships began their ascension, ascension to the fault, to the abyss,
Stocks made up, rum thrown over, over, over.
Sheaths made dull, wanting for shine…
Damn’d after damnation,
Waves still as they are, tides unpleasant as always.

To change; changing; changed.
Deafening, defiling, defining silence.
Light of sight simply without its might.
Files of ‘smiles’ just piles.

Ships set sail…
The precious cargo along with them,
Skimm’d across the silver fishes,
Port’s empty now. Quiet. Desolate. Barren.
Left stranded have we been,
However with riches of the Brunei King,

Yet - oil need not be of laughter,
Gold need not be embracement if neither warmth,
Lost? My boy? Follow the Southern Wind.
Puppetry at hand. obedient.
Don’t linger too long here mon ami.
Ils sont déjà partis…the ships have set their bearings.

Alors, look cross past the laden horizon,
A new sun - new day - new life,
Prospectors alike seen this,
A half-turn, and panoramic views,
I’ve left of my memories and thoughts - no more, no less.
And look, a new sun, a new day, a new life.

Britain, Botswana, Brazil, Bulgaria

LORD, this morning, thank you. This SONnet will please, tease, release:
I greet thee, having access to Your throne by Jesus
And His sacrifice on Calvary: We pray against the Virus
With a sunshiny name, an aura of a name, garland ...
Coronoa Virus, COVID VIRUS, or SARS-Cov-2, Thy Hand
Is mighty and righteous, always Righteous, even in judgment
We deserve judgment, but we ask for Mercy
God of Grace and Love, forgiveness and Provisioning
Forgive me my greed, envy, jealousy, smallness and scheming
I intercede for others now, nations and peoples, as Moses & Joshua
Botswana, guide, teach, help Botswana and leaders there
Belgium,, guide, teach, help Belgium and leaders there
Bulgaria, Brazil, Brunei, Britain: help them all, guide its Premiers
All of us deserve judgment, we asked for it in many ways, but forgive!
