Bright sunshine on high is reflected in our smiles down here below
Friendly greetings, a spring in our steps, squinting midst the golden rays
Let the clouds cast their gray pall across the Heavens, the change is palpable
Smiles vanish; gloom envelops us; we hurl our eyes at the cement pavement
Hot, humid nights sap us of energy; enervated, we drag ourselves into our
bedchambers
When the north wind releases humidity's choke-hold, invigorated, we perk up,
returning to our better selves...
The pitter-patter of rain, rhythmic against my windowpane, eases me into sleep's confidence
Until lightning's zap and thunder's crackle pierce my pleasant bubble...
Has modern man advanced beyond the days when he was at the mercy of the
Heavens?
Not when he lives or dies
By the friendly or unfriendly Face of the Skies

It seemed as if
I had everything I could ever want
And still I desired more
Lusting after forbidden fruit,
wanting to taste the taboo juice
Oh how I betrayed my heart ...
the love of my life ...
my wife
Why, oh why
did I throw away everything I thought I ever needed,
all because I desired more than I was meant to have
This tragedy
is played out time and time again
in the weeping bedchambers
of lost innocence
I was betrayed by desire,
curious beauty seen from afar
And as I moved nearer and nearer
to embrace this enticement,
my innocent heart escaped ...
and I know now where it went
