WHY CARE
By
Stan Almendro
The winds of change are blowing over land and over sea
And we will feel its might and power to bind or to set free
Gone are the days of learning to add, subtract, and divide
For the answers to life's questions are found at the cost of pride
As the winds of change keep blowing over your life and mine
The sense of things everlasting is lost in this fleeting time
No one to tell a story about things of their childhood days
For in the place of simplicity are the things which do not stay
The winds of change have come in the place of real things
And it comes with fleeting pleasure and no satisfaction brings
We are told to float in the tide of life or pay for being different
This rears its head in all our lives and has no respect of persons
And as these winds keep blowing no joy or peace unfolds
For it keeps us all in the cruel race hurting with all the falls
Yet there are those who have chosen to sit in life’s’ rocking chair
And by their lives, their joy their peace shows all they couldn’t care

The Web
By
Stan Almendro©
I sit so quiet at my window watching this little fly
It is also being watched by a spider oh so sly
The web is spun and now it is the patient game
In every walk of love and life, it is for us the same
The web of love and life is spun for every one
It makes our hearts so light or feeling like a ton
No hairy-legged spider is watching o’er this web
It is often a blue-eyed guy with curls on his head
At first, it is a smile and a short winking of the eye
This makes my legs so weak and a big hearty sigh
The web has no power yet draws the victim nearer
It is what makes falling in love evermore so dearer
So my blue-eyed spider as you wait there by your web
Is it me you want to snare or someone else instead?
The force of your stringy web is more than I can take
It is either a silky web or my heart that you will break
Well I’ve now lost site of the sly spider and the little fly
I do not see a hairy-legged monster looking oh so sly
My legs are weak and my heart is pounding very high
I’ll let be that blue-eyed spider if you let me be your fly

SORRY GOD
BY
STAN ALMENDRO
Sorry God that we behave so small
Easily from your grace and will fall
We should in childlike faith walk tall
But instead think we must have all
We say pray seek His face and ask
But this is make rich, win every task
Blame the devil for all our mistakes
And if right the glory we so easy take
Argue about things that do not matter
The things that childlike faith will splatter
Lives with wealth and shallowness clutter
All brings complaints as we easy mutter
So God you see how we live so shallow
Have no love or care for the other fellow
Help us to grow up, live for your GLORY
That the world will see it is not just a story
Oh God help us to be honest and real
To your Grace and mercy we do appeal
The Church is in a sick and sorry state
But to repent, say sorry, we all hesitate
