The light of joyful youth that shown, Oh! Days of youth! Where have you flown?! A light that lit my heart ablaze, Youthful joys of younger days! What light was that? Upon that face? In that, another time and place? Oh time, what sore catastrophe, Like clouds of gloom descend on me? But what my eyes beheld, then caught... A Youthful glow: a snapshot brought, My older days, such memory. My world was young, hopeful and free. Shine on hope, like days of old, Within my heart, again behold.

Oh BJ, yes the gift of youth is precious and like yourself and so many, I do miss it! Your beautiful poetic reminiscence conjured lovely memories of my own and was a pleasure to read!! Happy Friday xxoo

I really like this poem. One's thoughts turn to missing youth after about age 40. I have created many such poems. Alas!!

Yes, I think I started missing youth in my early twenties actually! I married right after HS, and a mom before I was twenty, at twenty-one, a mama again! I loved my babies but life had a lot of responsibility! I've told my kids to enjoy being young while they can, I still have three at home, but they are getting ready to fly. I want to fly too, maybe hit the road, set out to find America, is it still there to be discovered? Maybe there is still hope and joy and freedom in older age, one can only hope?! Florida anyone? Lol :) Retirement... maybe... someday??

Thank you Gershon :) I know when I was young things were not really perfect, but I did have a lot of hope in the future, and that counts for a lot :)

Love the photo! All our days are meaningful and we are meant to look back but proceed forward. How happy when childhood is what it should be. Part of us yearns for that freedom and youthful body, yet we do (hopefully) gain wisdom through our life. Blessings, dear one!

Aw, thank you Kim, I feel awkward about it, my daughter thought it would be fun to crop it and share it, but, I guess I'll leave it up, the me of nearly fifty years ago :) Time has a way of sneaking up and changing us up a bit in the process! Yes, sometimes the loss of innocence is a good thing, eyes to see other's and not just our own ambitions, kids do that to us :) There is much we gain in growing older, and trying not to lose hope in the process is an exercise in faith I guess. I so appreciate your visits and comments Kim, Blessings to you as well sweet friend! :) <3

"My world was young, hopeful and free." When we think of our younger days joyful memories come crowding to our mind. Now we have greater responsibilities to handle and greater tribulations to face. But by God's grace, still there are opportunities to make our lives valuable and enjoy our existence on earth. Lovely penning dear BJ

Thank you Valsa, your uplifting and encouraging comments always mean so much to me. It is true, there is much we have to give. Sometimes adjusting to the changes is hard. One day a few years ago, I was working quickly, but it was taking me so much time, I just couldn't believe how long. One of my kids had a camara running that picked me up in the background. Later, I watched it. I wasn't fast, it only seemed to me that I was. Well, I'm giving it my all anyway. Yes, by God's grace, there are opportunities, by His strength as well :)

BJ..leave this photo up, please? Iit goes so well with lovely poem. I am personally grateful for all my days, both good and bad. I have outlived old friends and younger ones. Just enjoy each day as if it were your last. Because we never know when God calls us home. Thank you for reading me earlier!! Pangie

I will try to leave it up, my kids want me to so very much, and you are so sweet, they are grateful you are siding with them :) I am happy for my older days as well, I love all my children, eight wonderful children through adoption as well as biological children, and thirteen grandkids. There are wonderful things to look forward to in all of their precious lives. Getting old has it's perks :) Thank you for your visit, and uplifting comment Pangie, I appreciate you so much <3 :)

It seems like existence shifts so quickly, While we are still young, we long to be more mature, and when we are more mature, we pine for our youth. I absolutely adored your poem, and I am grateful for your comment on my page

Yes Sotto, so true, if only for a day to feel the joy of youth, health and the freedom of agility again, the innocence that one day, the world would be a far better place, cause we were on our way there. Oh, the sheer hope of joy and love, how absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed my visit to your poems, I love your poetry. That poem I last read of yours and commented on is in my favorites file, oh my goodness, you really are a master poet. I look at my own poems in contrast and usually sigh. Yes, it does. In this picture I was at my sister Barbara's house, she was almost nine years older than me, and I aspired to try to catch up, I couldn't wait to be out on my own and enjoying the freedom of my own life. Funny how in youth we don't understand that grown-ups have a lot of serious responsibilities, freedom is sort of a relative term, we're slaves to our own existences, providing and working to sustain life and home! But, the innocence of youthful dreams, how wonderful to have ever reveled in such hope and joy! It is good to see you back on here SO. Congratulations on your POTD. Please take care of yourself my friend.

Thank you Vijay, I have been going through old photographs and came across this one. My daughter cropped and put this one up, as it had inspired the poem, and insists I leave it up, not sure I will though! My son joined forces, insists I leave it with the poem. That was a wonderful day, I was at my sister Barbara's house, she was always such a joy to me!
