Your Weakness

What tears me apart Is the weakness I see in you… A man A bastion of strength Rippling muscles and sinew Physical prowess and might A shelter A protector An avenger if need be A demi god A warrior Fighting for my cause Fighting for my love Fighting…. For me Unbridled strength and valor An enduring pillar An vanquisher Overcomer A hero And here you are Here you are Unable to bear my tears Unable to fight the demons Unable to carry the burden of my emotions The dark obsessions That weigh me down The unseen demons That hunt me down The terrors That pull me down Unable to…..feel Unable to rescue This damsel in distress You cower Afraid… Of the investment of time Of the investment of emotions Of the investment of strength Of the unknown revelations Your promises Worthless A man of honor Unable to keep his honorable word To be my savior Betrayal I could endure Abuse I would forgive Laziness I would overlook Harshness I would forbear But weakness…. Ah…weakness I will not tolerate I am weak enough as it I need you To be my strength. Eileen Manassian Ghali

Great message... you describe a person that might take a bullet for you if need be... or spends hours at a job he hates just for the support of the family. But not the little things... the concerns of the wife that he might brush off as insignificant. You really know how to use repetition to your advantage... very strong piece!

Oh Timothy...the little things become big things if not taken care of. We women are demanding at times, but this was more a piece on those who really suffer from deep depression not finding the support they need. Not every man can handle this, so...this was really about that.

There is such a message........someone to be there to hold us up in a storm.....it is strength sometimes we do not know we (or they) have until put to the test. :)

Men are taught from an early age to be strong and not show emotion so they become emotionally crippled. The arena of emotion is a place they feel very vulnerable. Well written I hope he discovers where his true strength flows from.

Yes...men in general are like this. It's sad because they are conditioned this way. I hope this poem is a wake up call. Thanks for the post.

If the windows to the soul cannot be in sync, look elsewhere. Strength must come from self, not another. One should not complete us, one should simply compliment us. Empowerment: Fuel for the heart. Very touching piece.

Oh, absolutely. Men must do their part. But, as the phrase goes, "meet me halfway". You're so welcome! :)

Drake, in an ideal world...YES. I do agree with everything you say, but surely men must live up to the role of protector and provider well. Yes...empowerment is key. Thanks for sharing the wisdom.

Russell....my hubby is a sweetie pie! He can be more in touch with his sensitive side. It's the upbringing. I guess I'm too much the Drama Queen, so I'm cutting him some slack, but this poem is applicable to men in general, I believe. Remember the term general....I know some men are better at this than others, but....I'm making a generalization here. Thanks for the visit.
