Notes About The Poem

Your Sweet Dessert

I watched the golden sunset, thinking love was out of reach
until you walked into my life as waves rolled on the beach.

I vaguely remember my yesterdays, the things I used to do.
My happiness is overwhelming, and it's all because of you.

I know the taste of sweet wine when you softly kiss my lips
and with your hand in mine, I feel a tingling in my fingertips.

When you look at me with love in your eyes, I yearn for you.
I would never disguise this love that always seems brand new.

My soul would surely cry to spend one night without you near
and my heart would want to die from seeing each forlorn tear.

There's a hunger deep inside of me that only you can sate
like the roaring of the tide when taking the shore for a mate.

But my appetite is not for food to be eaten with my fingers.
You always put me in the mood when your teasing lingers.

No need to peruse a menu to find the entrée I'm waiting for
You're the appetizer on my mind, and I'll always want more.

Tonight we'll dine a little later, but first I think I'd like to flirt.
If you will be my waiter, I promise to be your sweet dessert.

oh, waiter...desert, but Lin, i thought waiters only carry deserts on trays, they do nothing else with it, oops, they'd serve it out to someone and say "...desert, my favorite, enjoy sir!" lol, i'll advice you that if he's a waiter then change him into an EATER...just joking, nice write their and a very good use of words, best of luck in the contest
