Your Style of Verse

It matters not your style of verse, If you're rhyme or if you're free, Such distinctions are unwelcome And constrain the likes of me. For today I may be rhyming But tomorrow, wait and see-- My mind may be as blank as snow, And my words may scamper free! M :)

Thank you Karen. I knew nothing about it till someone brought it up a week or two ago. Glad you mentioned it. It's not the Pulitzer, but kinda fun. Glad you liked the poem. Stay in touch. Hugs, Mel :)

I used to always write with rhyme, until I was introduced to free verse and other forms. I feel that rhyme can be restricting at times, but free verse can change that. It is fun to change things up every now and then. This is a great write, Mel. I really enjoyed reading it tonight! :)

Thank you Kelly. Nice of you to drop by and read this; just felt like fooling about. And I will be posting some free verse--for the reason you mentioned; although tonight...rhyming again :) It's odd, but I think in rhyme. For me, it really isn't constricting at all. Go figure. Happy Easter. Blessings, Mel :)

Dear Mel, Writing with constraints helps us to grow. Especially enjoyed the line about words scampering free because that is exactly what they do in free verse, a form dear to me. Whether it be rhyme or free verse, you definitely hit the nail on the head in this poem! Love and blessings for a joyful Easter, Carolyn

And to you, Carolyn. I hope you are surrounded with family and have a nice Easter. I have no family in the area, so I'll be alone--how sad! Thank you the read and kind comment. Nice to see you. Hugs and blessings, Mel :)

It was late when I wrote this. I think I was tired; felt like being ironic, or silly. Thanks for the visit Joseph. it's nice to have friends drop by. :)

Very true Mel. Sometimes in free verse I rhyme other times I don't. I just let the emotions out...Tim

Thanks for the visit, Tim. Like your stuff, btw. I think I am doomed--or destined--to a life of rhyme. I sometimes wonder if all those Dr. Suess books my mom read to me have had an influence---for real. You can't break the mold, but I'll be trying to crack it a little :) Happy Easter...

True that. it is interesting, though. We all have so much to say, and such different ways of saying. Are you right handed, or left handed? Free verse, or rhyme? I don't like the label, but I obviously lean towards the rhyme--always have. Whatever works, I guess. Thanks for the visit and intelligent commentary. Happy Easter, my friend, Mel :)

MEL, WELL, WELL! I THINK, I AGREE.... :) A free of verse, rhyme, .. I think, I'm a bad rhymer when forcing it. So thank you for not taking us as we come... I'm a free falling poet... Weee... any which way, I can... xox~ Linda

Linda, you are the soups biggest sweetheart; however, I must apologize for posting dreck (it's ok if I say it). Guess my brain stepped out for a minute, but all is well as I've made the needed corrections. But you are a peach. You gave me hugs, when what I deserved was a beating (a BEATing, get it) Sleep well my poem angel. oxox Mel
