Your Path---Our Connection

As you get older, you'll sit back and see
How thing's in your life, were just meant to be
When you are young, it seems a straight road
there's so much time, to go for the gold

Follow the path, parents set before you
Not be deterred, be centered your view
With eyes on the road, walk a straight line
Ignore life's distractions
the paths that entwine

What wasn't clear then,
all those roads, when you swayed
made many more curves
unknown you had laid
All the confusion that pulled, this way and that
Changed the direction of, where you were at
Stopping yourself, each time with a sigh
Forcing your detour, off the straight line
There were times that you cautioned...
others to see,
the straight path as told
was the right way to be
To convince the others, try to impress
changing the program will slow down success

This straight path they said
Was to affect only 'you'
But as time away... slipped by
your experiences grew
The side roads, the adventures, the people you knew
Transformed all the curves, the bends around you
Affecting every person and ways you could go'
changing your timing, chance meetings and so
others did follow and leave behind them
A new path for other's to follow, that stemmed
All the things that you did, taught lessons in turn
All the things that you didn't, gave desire to learn
Everything that you are and the way that you think
All came from the curves, the diversions...
The link

'All' things were affected,
by the roads that you took
The detours and paths, just an alternate route
The future's effect is constant deception
For all things, you touched
the intended connection

Just being 'part of'
is the path meant to take
Curving and swerving, assembling your fate
We 'all', are connected
'you' matter, it's vital
Your link to this path,
of life's chain, is entitled
